It Is A Shameful Conspiracy For The United Nations To Renege On It's Resolution To Acknowledge/Punish The Crime Of Biafra Genocide

It Is A Shameful Conspiracy For The United Nations To Renege On It's Resolution To Acknowledge/Punish  The Crime Of Biafra Genocide

"Genocide is the first and greatest of the crimes perpetrated against humanity both because of it's scale and the intent behind it; the destruction of a group. It is therefore, a crime that obliges the international community to respond".....Alain Destexhe, once stated.

Korieh said: "The Rwandan and Darfur genocides in Africa as was the case of the Armenian and Kosovan genocides, all reflect the historical conflagration of human bestiality and resonate the Nazi trivialization of the Jewish priesthood in shape, though not in magnitude". However, unlike the Jewish, Armenian, Rwandan and Darfur genocides, the Igbo (Biafran) experience has for decades been neglected by scholars, activists and community leaders. This reluctance or indifference to a systematic study and documentation of the Biafran experience in Nigeria, stems from the attempt to subvert a focus on what transpired. Millions were gruesomely murdered under the orchestration, execution and supervision of the Nigerian state, which was practically assisted by the governments of Britain, Russia, etcetera.

Genocide is a word, dictionary defines as the systematic killing of a racial or cultural group. According to the United Nations Convention on Prevention and Punishment of the Crime of Genocide, it means any act committed with the intent to destroy, in whole or in part, a national, ethnical, racial or religious group. Such acts include:

* Killing members of a group.

* Causing serious bodily or mental harm to members of a group.

* Deliberately inflicting on a group, conditions of life calculated to bring about it's destruction in whole or in part.

* Imposing measures intended to prevent births within a group.

* Forcibly transferring children of a group to another group.

These are treatments meted on the Igbos (Biafrans) in Nigeria, some of which started way back under the watchful eyes of the British colonialists.

READ HERE: The Biafra Genocidal Denial And The Accompanying Conspiracy

On the 11th of June 1968, precisely in the House of Commons, a Member of Parliament (asked the Foreign Secretary if he was aware of the depth of the feeling in the country that arms supplied to the Nigerian government should be cut off so that we should not be a party to the slaughter? Another asked him to "reconsider the policy on this point (arms supply), particularly now when the dangers of massive slaughter appeared to be brooding over the scene". A day later, another had argued that it has "now become a war leading possibly to the extermination of a race". One other said, "so long as we are sending arms, we are partly responsible for the bloodshed".

The Guardian Newspaper reported: "There is alarming evidence that the assurance given by General Alexander (British observer) amongst others, that Biafrans' fears of "genocide", are not the whole truth". The Newspaper further cited as evidence, the televised pictures of a Biafran being shot dead by a Nigerian army officer, shooting of four Red Cross workers, air raids on crowded Biafran markets, coupled with the reports of a group of Canadian Members of Parliament, which served as element of the genocidal war. It urged the United Kingdom to exert pressure on the Nigerian Military Government to reach out to a confederal solution. An article in The Times Magazine, noted that the conclusions of the observer team may have helped to "dispel from public mind, some of the horrors raised by the sight" of that televised execution but then, the news that millions of people could die of starvation, disturbed them yet again.

Cronje noted that "the observer team was not neutral. It was not instructed on what genocide is or how to identify it. It was dependent on the Nigerian Federal Military Government to provide transport and accommodation. It never investigated the 1966 massacres of the Igbos".

According to Chima J. Korieh in his journal titled: "Biafra And The Discourse On The Igbo Genocide", he stated that "indeed, according to the Investigator Report, hostilities between Federal Nigeria and the Republic of Biafra which began in July 1967, served as a continuation of an intention to exterminate the Igbo people. The war was indeed a Nigerian variant of what the Nazi called the "Final Solution of the Jewish Problem". "Since the late 1950s,  thousands of Igbo people have been massacred in different parts of Nigeria especially, in the Northern region. The genocide against the Igbos, conceived and executed with the support of public officials in many cases, climaxed in 1966. Even since the end of the war, the Igbo people (Biafrans), remain objects of targeted slaughter in different parts of the country. The massacre has not received any attention by "Genocide Scholars". A great deal of literature exists on genocide studies. In "Blood and Soil", A World History of Genocide and Extermination from Sparta to Darfur, Ben Kiernan reviewed the history of genocides and the attempts to exterminate groups of people based on their ethnicity or other characteristics. A massive volume of seven hundred and twenty three (723) pages, with absolutely no mention of Biafra genocide, carried the first attempt to systematically murder and wipe out a race in post-colonial Africa principally because of whom they are. Their identity as a people remains indisputably distinct and this, to those who are supposed to speak and take action, is a forbidden task. What a shameless conspiracy of the world!

BREAKING NEWS: IPOB ANNOUNCES THE DATE OF BIAFRA REFERENDUM

BREAKING NEWS: IPOB ANNOUNCES THE DATE OF BIAFRA REFERENDUM

We the global family of the Indigenous People of Biafra (IPOB) ably led by Mazi Nnamdi Kanu wish to announce officially to the people of Biafra both home and in the diaspora, friends of Biafra and lovers of freedom that our supreme leader Mazi Nnamdi Kanu is currently in London to join his family and see a new born child he hadn't seen because of his illegal incarceration and detention since 2015. He will also discuss with IPOB top family members in London to finalize the way foward for Biafra referendum that will  hold on February 16, 2019 along with the Nigeria presidential poll.

IPOB Leader  Mazi Nnamdi kanu,'s relocation to the United Kingdom from his base in Israel was actually to perfect arrangements on Biafra referendum scheduled to hold 16th February 2019 to ascertain number of those who want Nigeria politics and those who want Biafra freedom through a peaceful and democratic process for the sovereignty of our dear nation Biafra. Our leader Mazi Nnamdi Kanu is currently meeting with IPOB high command in Europe to perfect plans for the referendum which will go side by side with the February 16 presidential poll.

On Friday last week our leader Mazi Nnamdi Kanu arrived Leeds airport in England where our Deputy leader Mazi Uche Mefor and other top IPOB members based in UK received him.
IPOB leader and other top IPOB high command are expected to meet with European Union ( EU) officials to gather more international support for the Biafra proposal. Recently Mazi Nnamdi Kanu had been holding "useful  talks" with a number of diplomats on a successful referendum bids for Biafra on 16 February 2019, and we can assure you that majority of them have given their assurances and the proposal has received a tremendous support from many  key allies who see self determination for Biafra as the best solution to the present Nigeria problem.

The details and out come of the referendum on Saturday 16th February will determine the position of Biafra people in the coming weeks. The test will be side by side with Nigeria presidential election next month to examine how many people boycotted the forthcoming presidential election. On the format of the referendum, the planned boycott of the forthcoming presidential election would be a barometer to measure those who want Biafra and those who want to remain in Nigeria. The success of the sit-at-home order during the presidential poll in Biafra land will be a confirmation that Biafra is no longer under the bondage of one Nigeria. The truth is that by the time Nigeria will wake from the looming political crisis she will only discover that Biafra is already a sovereign nation.

We are sure for peaceful and rancour free referendum because international observers and media platforms will be on ground to monitor the exercise on that day. It is important we remind Nigerians once again that the on-going political developments in the country only confirm that Nigeria cannot work together as one country and Biafra must be a sovereign nation.

ELECTION BOYCOTT, A NECESSARY OBLIGATION TO ALL BIAFRANS

ELECTION BOYCOTT, A NECESSARY OBLIGATION TO ALL BIAFRANS

Couple of months back, the Indigenous People of Biafra (IPOB), ably led by Mazi Nnamdi Kanu, categorically stated before the entire global community, that Biafrans will be totally boycotting the Nigerian upcoming general election starting from Saturday 16th February 2019. This civilized approach is the most veritable weapon to register our long years of oppressive existence in the defunct Nigeria federation. Series of serialized educative live broadcasts made by the IPOB leader on Radio Biafra from the holy land of Israel, have invariably sent strong messages to the world about the undeterred readiness of Biafrans to exit Nigeria and fully take charge of their own destiny.

IPOB in her diplomatic methods adopted in the struggle, have greatly recorded significant successes in every ramification no doubt, have beaten all oppositions to pulp. The international community has complicity remained  mute over the senseless killings and victimization of peaceful, innocent IPOB family members in the course of legitimate protests. This atrocious treatments are being carried out through the instrumentality of the Nigeria armed forces for daring to demand for freedom and justice. The United Nations charter on the rights of oppressed indigenous people groups like Biafrans, on self-determination even through a democratically conducted exercise has been grossly tainted by unchallenged impunity.

The importance of the call for comprehensive boycott of the elections within Biafraland, cannot be over-emphasized. It is an important task in the struggle that must never be compromised and everything must be done to make the exercise, a worthwhile one. It is a means of unequivocally passing our message of freedom as a people, from this satanic cyclone called Nigeria. Your vote after all, never counts. The Fulani desperate ruling caliphate cum cabals, have the predominant pre-requisite of imposition of any candidate of their choice on others. This malady is being perpetrated under the supervisory watch of the British since the evil entity was amalgamated as a colony in 1914, by Fredrick Lugard and his wife, Flora Shaw. The existence of Biafrans since this contraption, has  taken the lives of over five million innocent Biafrans by the Nigerian and British governments. After the 1967/1970 war between Biafra and Nigeria, the Nigerian government till date, has blatantly not deemed it fit to honor the fallen Biafran heroes and heroines. It has rather been a chronicled account of increased subjugation and marginalisation of the people. Fulani killer herdsmen and their cattle of death and destruction, had recently ravaged large portions of farmlands across Biafraland. The terrorists had in their numbers, raped  our girls and women with reckless abandon, with the Nigerian government, playing high profile complit. Up till date, neither has the British government made any definitive statement nor has any Fulani herdsman arrested/prosecuted. The Nigerian army has gained honor and recognition in the callous killing, incarceration, abduction and torture of innocent Biafrans in their own indigenous land, without recourse.

All conscientious individuals positively reason and agree with the wisdom behind IPOB's call for total election boycott. The Nigerian government has wittingly institionalized and orchestrated harm against us. Political merchants cum Fulani slaves of Biafra extraction, have shamelessly reduced themselves to errand boys to these Islamic vampires of the North, for self-serving interests. The Southeast governors treacherously connived amongst themselves, to unleash terror, kill, maim and abduct thousands of IPOB family members, in their morbid/desperate attempt to kill Mazi Nnamdi Kanu, the IPOB leader.  This is a man that has courageously stood against the Nigerian State in truth, honesty and love, to extricate his people from years of misery, slavery, deceit and impoverishment, and get the entire Biafran territory fully restored, both for the present and the upcoming Biafran generations.

Our demand for referendum date remains exceptionally sacrosanct. It is the only next civilized option for Biafrans to decide their destiny, void of any form of negotiation. The Indigenous People of Biafra (IPOB) globally, has never ever been associated with any form of violence in her approach to freedom. Biafrans are hereby enjoined to unreservedly cooperate with the IPOB leadership ably piloted by Onyendu Mazi Nnamdi Kanu and his amiable deputy, Mazi Uche Mefor, to conclusively and victoriously drive home the train. Let us all stand unshaken in one voice and under one central command of this globally recognised phenomenal indigenous mass movement, the IPOB.

Undoubtedly, with rare intelligent diplomatic approach being adopted for our freedom, the global community is daily being convinced that Biafrans are indeed, uniquely enlightened and civilized in the entire continent of Africa.

Premised on the foregoing, we shall all Sit-At-Home and boycott the upcoming Nigeria organized presidential election of Saturday 16th February 2019, as we remain resolute in our demand for a referendum date. This is an obligation that all bona-fide Biafran must carry out. It must be noted too that various international observers will be much on ground to monitor the extent of our compliance to this all important boycott order of the IPOB leadership.

ANGUISH OF A PREYED NATION

ANGUISH OF A PREYED NATION

Biafra...!
Oh... Biafra...!!
Long time ago
I heard the story
I read in the books
And I saw pictorial
collections
Pictures of war
Of survivors reeling
in enlongated grief
Of pains and bloodshed
That provoked tears
To flow down the chicks like waterfalls on the faces of pilgrims of sorrows

Africa...., Africa....
Yes, in West Africa
Where the sun rises
Have you heard the story?
Have you seen the pictures?
The silent tent of
A mournful nation
The starving pose of
A dying infants
The dark graves
Of fallen heroes
Anguishly moaning
In lowly graves
Justice....justice.....

Listen...., listen.......
To that voice
Of the agonizing souls
Hovering in the wind
Chanting
Justice and freedom
Freedom, freedom
Food for motherland
And only when eaten
Will point no further grief
Of the bloody ship
Callously moved
By the wicked sailor
That dug the burning heat of agony

Biafra.... my.... Biafra
The chosen path
Of our heroes past
I cling to you now and ages
If I hug the past
I salute your vigor
If I kiss the present
I cherish the undying
spirit
If I am to render a song
I choose hymns of your beauty
The greenish nature
Of your being
Blossom and so beautiful
The great shield of endowment
The pride of our fathers

Biafra... Oh... Biafra..
Stand, stand firmly Very tall and huge
To this food for
motherhood
To feed the dead in the grave
To rest peacefully
To save and quench the thirst
Of the souls
That buried their hope in you
Yes, they await eagerly
For that day to come
To enjoy the food
In triumphant voyage
Sailing vigorously with
The flag of adorning colours
Smiling brightly
To the land of the rising sun
Yes, Biafra...., the land of the rising sun!

BIAFRA GENERAL STRIKE ACTION: SITUATION REPORT FROM ENUGU PROVINCE

BIAFRA GENERAL STRIKE ACTION: SITUATION REPORT FROM ENUGU PROVINCE

Egwuatu Chutz
Reporting For Family Writers Press

The order of the Indigenous People of Biafra (IPOB) remained paramount in Enugu Province as Biafrans  fully observed and obeyed the General Strike/Sit-At-Home Action as carried out today in Biafraland.

Earlier in the morning, there were no vehicular movements and markets/businesses totally shutdown as men, women and children remained indoors. They prayed for the repose of the souls of the slain by the Nigerian army during the evil military expedition tagged "Operation Python Dance II" in Biafraland coupled with the murderous invasion of the residence of the leader of the Indigenous People of Biafra (IPOB), Mazi Nnamdi Kanu, on 14th September 2017, at Afara-ukwu Ibeku in Umuahia, Abia State. He has since then not been seen along with his aged parents who are believed to have been kept incommunicado in a secretive custody.

In Enugu and environs today, Biafrans totally complied with the observance of the Sit-At-Home exercise. Family Writers Press Correspondents were readily on ground to get live updates of proceedings which were adequately made available to the public within Biafraland and the outside world. There  were extensive collation of news updates by journalists regarding the exercise within the city of Enugu from various market places, streets, institutions, parastatals etcetera.

The popular Ogbete main market tried opening for business by the superintending authority in vain as Biafrans  clinically shunned cooperation. Keyenta market was shut down while the popular Gariki market witnessed scanty patronage. Business owners in this place shunned opening their shops in compliance with the General Strike Action. It was the same report all over. Banks, hospitals, schools and motor parks were totally shutdown to businesses in respect of the IPOB order for a Sit-At-Home.

Nsukka axis in Enugu Province which comprises of five local government areas, was equally shutdown. Live video reports posted virally on the internet (Facebook, Twitter, Instagram and WhatsApp) are irrefutable confirmation.

However, the Nigerian armed forces including the army, navy, airforce, police, officers of the Department of Security Services (DSS), Anti-kidnapping Squad, Anti-cultism, Special Anti-Robbery Squad (SARS), Civil Defense Corps etcetera, have been parading round the streets of Enugu since 12th September 2018, intimidating unarmed, innocent civilians and IPOB members.

As at 2:00pm, few commercial vehicle drivers were seen on the roads scanning for proceeds to maintain their families in the midst of the General Strike exercise, as a result of the present economic realities of Nigeria. Most of the drivers posited that they were staying through with the action of the day as ordered by the IPOB leadership.

Enugu Province totally complied with the General Strike/Sit-At-Home Action as ordered.

BIAFRA: WELL DEFINED LEADERSHIP STRUCTURE OF THE IPOB, EVIDENCED MASTERPIECE FOR A SOVEREIGN NATION

BIAFRA: WELL DEFINED LEADERSHIP STRUCTURE OF THE IPOB, EVIDENCED MASTERPIECE FOR A SOVEREIGN NATION

Written by Mazi Onyebuchi Eze
For Family Writers Press

IPOB medical team in community work
As the onward match into an independent Biafran nation gradually unfolds, it is pertinent to bring to the notice of the International Community, the unparalleled discipline being portrayed within the rank and file of the Indigenous People of Biafra (IPOB) the world over.  It is a proven testimony that the men and women at the hierarchy of the IPOB leadership, can   faultlessly, effectively and efficiently manage the affairs of the sovereign nation of Biafra. The exhibited ingenuity of the leadership of this unique global family, is exceptionally commendable and worth emulating by governments of countries within the African continent. Since the inception of the Indigenous People of Biafra (IPOB) worldwide, ably led by Mazi Nnamdi Kanu, it is on record globally, that no act of criminality, has been traced to IPOB membership anywhere even in the face of provocations and persecutions by the Nigerian government. From the countries of Africa, Europe, America and Asia, the record remains unbroken. IPOB has successfully conducted series of rallies in virtually every continent of the world, no report of breakdown of law and order has been given even within Nigerian territories.

With this management prowess over eighty million Biafran population both within Biafraland and in the diaspora, maintaining high degree of discipline and civility despite the wave of tyranny visited upon the people by the agents of the Nigerian government, it is indisputably clear that the IPOB has the requisite policy direction to articulate and manage a sovereign nation. This is in sharp contrast with what obtains in Nigeria under the terroristic control of Fulani feudal lords. The world is on the know that the Nigerian government had defiantly killed, maimed and imprisoned many Biafrans with the intent of provoking civil unrest or lure them into arms conflict in the cause of agitations for the restoration of the sovereignty of Biafra. The IPOB leadership as an evolving phenomenon in Africa, keeps guiding the people on the path of peaceful agitation as established under the policy of Command and Control Principle and Structure. It is not out of place to state here that no government in the entire African continent operates within a well coordinated, civilised  administrative policy like the IPOB leadership.

If the leadership of this massive and enlightened global movement of an indigenous people group can navigate it's membership through the valley of provocations from a tyrannical, genocidal government like that of Nigeria without unnecessarily loosing grip of avowed responsibilities, it becomes important therefore, for the governments of the United States of America, Russia, Israel and France to strategically synergize and support the independence drive of the IPOB for the nation of Biafra. United Nations and the African Union should equally wade in as unbiasedly obligated to pressure Nigeria into organising referendum for the peaceful exit of Biafra, in order to forestall any devastating crisis.

IPOB medical team administering medication
Since the emergence of the Indigenous People of Biafra (IPOB) in the year 2012, with conscious administration of oath of allegiance on members for absolute loyalty to the IPOB leadership, it is on record that such heinous/demeaning crimes like armed robbery, kidnapping and cultism have grossly dropped if not entirely eradicated from within Biafraland. IPOB leadership through it's viable administrative dexterity, has obliterated that criminal mindset of the people of Biafra with effective replacement of genuine desire for Biafra independence. The only trail of constant criminality that has persistently become nightmarish to the people, are those sponsored by the Nigerian State. And such crimes include extortion of money from innocent road users by the Nigerian Police, Nigerian Army, and Nigerian Custom Services at countless roadblocks on motorways in Biafraland. The incessant killing of Biafrans in various communities and villages by Nigerian government aided Fulani killer herdsmen terrorists also hold sway. They move into farms with their cows out of impunity and destroy farm produce.

With the display of requisite policy direction and enlightened sophistication to effectively manage the people of Biafra without military compulsion as clearly shown by the IPOB leadership, the stage is irrefutably set to place a bargain for total restoration of Biafra. Biafrans globally, have exhibited unbridled loyalty and allegiance to the leadership of the IPOB as variously demonstrated in their unreserved obedience to all policy directions. Examples abound with the annual "Sit-At-Home" directives for the commemoration of Biafra Heroes/Heroines Day on 30th of May. The International Community is therefore obligated to lend full support to the Biafra restoration agenda as constantly being demanded by the leadership of the IPOB as they have presented required policy demands to effectively manage a civilised society even with sovereign status premised on the disciplined control of the people. This essentially, will continue to provide guidance on the path of peaceful agitation regardless of contending factors orchestrated  by the Nigerian government.

FAMILY WRITERS' TRENDING SPOTLIGHT OF THE WEEK

FAMILY WRITERS' TRENDING SPOTLIGHT OF THE WEEK
<<17Th December 2017>>

By Maxwell Chuks and Godswill Leeleebari Gabriel

Welcome to Spotlight Of The Week from the news desk of Family Writers Press. Seasons greetings and Happy New year in advance to everyone. On this edition; we'll as usual, bring to you trending updates, reactions, and observation by Spotlight crew.

•  First on Spotlight desk,
"North is not poor.... We are not afraid of restructuring" that's according to Masari.
»Now the question is "Is the masses really campaigning for restructuring? Absolutely Not. Majority who are sincere, are talking about breakup, but the north who earlier disagreed on restructuring are now waking up for it. Hmm...

• Moving ahead;,
Biafra: IPOB leader, Nnamdi Kanu petitions African Commission against federal government of Nigeria.
Ghen! Ghenn!!

• During the week; Amnesty International raised alarm and asked for a stop, to the bill proposed by Nigeria government, which threatens people's freedom in Nigeria. The so-called NGO bill will keep people from freely sharing their opinions, holding open discussion forums or organizing protest.
Huh! Too bad. Return of tyranny.

• IPOB: Court grants Cross Rivers State IPOB coordinator bail.

• Still on Spotlight,, HURIWA seeks investigation of the killing of IPOB members.
»Recall this isn't this first nor second call for investigation of the killing of IPOB members by the Nigerian military. But it baffles us here on Spotlight desk, that despite evidence, some groups still seek for investigation on the issue, and gradually the matter is buried. Now we ask, what is the investigation for when there are undisputable evidence everywhere?
Huh! Nigeriaaaa..

• Biafra: No amount of oppression, propaganda will stop agitation - Elliot Ugochukwu Uko (Secretary general Eastern Consultative Assembly).
In respond, Biafrans said "Gbam!"

• Shortly after the president of America, Donald Trump officially recognize Jerusalem as the capital of Israel; IPOB backed Trump as they also congratulates Israel.

• Shortly after Trump recognized Jerusalem as the eternal capital of Israel; there was a serious panic and threat from Islamic nations, as Palestines and Muslims round the world embark on massive protest, claiming that Jerusalem is the capital of Palestine.
»But the fact is that Historically, Jerusalem have always been of Israel. The question is why don't Islamic nations use that energy they are burning over Jerusalem, to protest and rise up against terrorism by theirfellow Muslims who have been making life unbearable for people worldwide?
Anyway, we are still watching....

• Still moving ahead;
"Desecration of a Royal Palace is a sacrilege in our land": Monarchs petition Buhari, demands Eze Israel Kanu, Wife and Nnamdi Kanu's whereabouts.
Recall: Nigeria military invaded Eze Israel Kanu, Nnamdi Kanu father's palace on September 14, 2017 where they killed many, abduct and subjects Nnamdi Kanu, leader of IPOB.

• "Governor Shettima is Boko Haram boss and the keeper of Chibok girls" - that's according to Sen. Ali Modu Sheriff, former governor of Borno state.
»Hmm... Does this justify the Speculations from people who alleged that "the North know much about the insurgent group, and Chibok girls saga, a game of throne"?
Still watching....

• As the wild activities and killings carried out by Hausa-Fulani herdsmen continues; the military is accused of giving out uniforms and aiding herdsmen in carrying out deadly attacks. In response to that, NDA said: "We'll probe cadets who keep uniforms with herdsmen."
Surprise? You don't really have to because that's Nigeria.

• While IPOB is busy waxing strong and their quest gaining momentum; British government spoke again. Guess what they said........
"We do not support call for breakup, we support and call for restructuring of Nigeria......"
»Not surprise that this is coming when the agitation and pressure for Breakup from Biafrans and others, is becoming very serious. It's good to understand that restructuring which they speak of, is not what the masses ask for. Referendum for breakup is all they demand for. So if the British government now choose to campaign for restructuring which is not what the general masses demand for, that simply means they are playing a 'game of own interest'.

• "Our demand isn't the scam called Restructuring, we want Biafra referendum" - Biafrans replies British government and FG of Nigeria.
Ghen! Ghenn !!

• As Buhari and APC Nigeria government are busy shouting "We are fighting corruption", Maina blows hot. Guess what he said.....
"Bigger thieves are working with Buhari".
Ohuoh!

• Still in Nigeria..
Just as wild Fulani herdsmen are busy causing havoc, maiming and Killing; Adamawa state SSG, Dr Umar Bindir said in a video:
"There's nothing wrong with Fulani herdsmen carrying arms, they use it for protection"
Huh! Welcome to Nigeria, a place where things happen.

• Ohanaeze and Nnia Nwodo!
Guess what they did and said again....
During the week, they held Igbo meeting in Lagos State, not in IgboLand. As if that wasn't enough, Nwodo, the president of Ohanaeze said "I'll sabotage another war and Biafra struggle".
Responding to that, IPOB blast Ohanaeze, say "nobody can stop IPOB and Biafra restoration".

• "Call to forget Biafra, is nonsense. It can't be wished away" - Ikedife, Achuzie, Elliot Ugochukwu Uko blast Ohanaeze over comment on agitation.
√√√

• As the week prepares to draw its curtain; Lai Muhammed, Nigeria's minister of Information and culture said: "There has been no single bomb blast since we, APC came into power 30 months ago".
...and from hideout, the devil out of surprise, shout "The blood of Jesus Christ!".

• "Buhari's cow is faring better than Nigerians" - Ex lawmaker, Essien Ndueso cries out over hardship in Nigeria.

• Fayose taunts Federal Government of Nigeria, ask "How can a government that claim to defeat Boko Haram withdraw $1b to fight same Boko Haram? Nigerians are not cows".
»It's amazing that we are still hearing this from Buhari-led government who said they've defeated Boko Haram. Despite all that have been spent, another $1b oil money is about to go again for the so-called Boko Haram. But same government bluntly refuse to fund Ogoni cleanup. Hmm.... Anyways, Today it's $1b, maybe they'll soon start selling Nigerians to fund the alleged Boko Haram fight.

• "We'll never represent Nigeria again" - Biafrans in UAE vow during FIFA club World Cup final.

BIAFIANS, BEWARE OF PRETENDERS IN YOUR MIDST

BIAFIANS, BEWARE OF PRETENDERS IN YOUR MIDST

By Ogeh Friday Igiri
For Family Writers Press

According to one of the biblical warnings of our LORD against the events such as those  we experience in our days today. He said and I quote: "The devil comes to kill, to steal and to destroy, but I,  the Son of man has come to give you life and more in abundance.". It is only the wise that can really understand the full importance of this injunction. There are many signs in the horizon and it is left to the prudent to work hard so as not to be entrapped in the web.

In the prevailing struggle to get our nation Biafra restored, it is important for us to take full cognisance of the fact that enemies abound, lurking around to take into captivity, their victims.  There will be financial inducements to jettison the mandate for frivolities, there will be myriads of blackmail and other backstabbing tendencies but it will only take the resilience of the faithful to stand the tide. These agents of destabilization are planted everywhere even the very closely related amongst us. They have strong affinity with those who have vowed to scuttle this restoration effort if policies are not dictated and driven by them. They have through their ill gotten overtures and political support, got FM Radio station in Biafraland and other online machineries to further their subversive plots. But we are hereby warned to be on the watch out against these stooges.

Many are called but few are chosen according to the saying. In this struggle, there abounds saboteurs and backstabbers who will definitely fall on the way side leaving only the trusted and the tested to pull through to the end. It is those that will be counted worthy to be among the chosen which will bring to reality, the expected victory.

There can never be any other group of persons that will drive this agenda outside the Indigenous People Of Biafra (IPOB) worldwide, under the able leadership of the supreme commander, Mazi Nnamdi Kanu. This is the only body that will bring this restoration effort to fruition as ordained by God. Therefore, any other scheme outside this platform amounts to futility.

It is also necessary to bring to the notice of schemers (enemies) that in no distant time, their names will be made known to the public if they fail to desist from their nefarious activities. The Indigenous People Of Biafra are known for their uprightness, truth and unity of purpose and so will not condone acts of rebellion and sabotage.

My parting advice therefore is for us to keep our eyes on the ball and play according to instructions. Let us remain strong and resolute in the pursuance of set objectives which hinge on the unfettered freedom of Biafrans and the restoration of our fatherland. All traces of sabotage must at all times be exposed and punished. Let us remain unitedly unscathed now more than ever before,  no matter what and how the seeming hurdles on our way may appear to be.

BIAFRA MUST BE RESTORED COME WHAT MAY !!!

US President Donald Trump has called his Turkish counterpart, Recep Tayyip Erdogan, to congratulate him on victory in a referendum that boosts his power and plays a key role in the future of the country and the rest of the region.

He  made the call Monday after the ‘Yes’ campaign won over 51 percent of the votes during Sunday’s referendum, while the 'No' campaign gained nearly 49 percent.

The reforms will change Turkey’s parliamentary system into a presidential one; the office of the prime minister will be abolished; the president will appoint the cabinet and an undefined number of vice-presidents, and will be able to select and remove senior civil servants without parliamentary approval.

The changes would also potentially keep Erdogan in power until 2029.

The American president’s congratulatory tone appears to run counter to an earlier statement by the US State Department, asserting that the referendum took place in an environment where “fundamental freedoms essential to a genuinely democratic process were curtailed.”

Apart from congratulating, thanking and voicing support for Erdogan, Trump also talked about his recent missile attack against the Syrian government.

He made the call to "congratulate him on his recent referendum victory and to discuss the United States’ action in response to the Syrian regime’s use of chemical weapons," according to a White House release.

Two US Navy destroyers fired 59 Tomahawk cruise missiles from the Mediterranean Sea at Syria’s al-Shayrat airfield late on April 7 in retaliation for a suspected chemical attack that Washington blamed on Syrian fighter jets operating from the base.

Syria has denied carrying out the attack, maintaining that it was a false-flag one to criminalize Syrian President Bashar al-Assad.

North Korea confirms their complete preparedness to fight US

North Korea confirms their complete preparedness to fight US

Published by Family Writers

North Korea has finalized its preparations for war as it responded with a warning of “catastrophic consequences” to any further provocations by the US following the US Navy strike group positioning on the North Korean peninsula. The USS Carl Vinson aircraft carrier was diverted to western Pacific from its visit to Australia after tensions mounted over military drills involving American and South Korean forces, something which Pyongyang has interpreted as preparation for invasion.“We will hold the US wholly accountable for the catastrophic consequences to be entailed by its outrageous actions,” North Korea’s state-run Korean Central News Agency quoted a foreign ministry spokesman said. “(North Korea) is ready to react to any mode of war desired by the US.”

The guardian reports: The spokesman cited Washington’s refusal to rule out a pre-emptive strike against North Korean missile sites as justification for its nuclear program.“The prevailing grave situation proves once again that (North Korea) was entirely just when it increased in every way its military capabilities for self-defense and pre-emptive attack with a nuclear force as a pivot,” the spokesman said, according to KCNA.“We will take the toughest counteraction against the provocateurs in order to defend ourselves by the powerful force of arms.”Last week’s US strike against a Syrian base is also being seen as a warning to North Korea after Donald Trump said Washington was prepared to act alone if China failed to exert more pressure on its neighbor to halt its missile and nuclear weapons programmes.

North Korea again defied UN resolutions banning it from developing ballistic missile technology with another test-launch on the eve of Trump’s summit with the Chinese leader, Xi Jinping, in Florida last week.White House officials have signalled that all options – including pre-emptive strikes – remain on the table in addressing North Korea’s steady advance towards developing long-range missiles capable of carrying a nuclear warhead as far as the US mainland.

The nuclear-powered Carl Vinson’s presence in the area coincides with speculation that North Korea could be preparing to conduct its sixth nuclear test to coincide with key dates in the country’s history, including the 105th anniversary of the birth of its founder, Kim Il-sung, on Saturday.China’s foreign ministry, meanwhile, has played down reports that Beijing has deployed 150,000 troops to its border with North Korea.Hua Chunying, a foreign ministry spokesperson, told reporters she was “not aware” of such a mobilisation by the People’s Liberation Army along the 880-mile border.

In the past, similar reports had been proven “groundless and false,” Hua claimed. However, with regional tensions building ahead of Saturday’s Kim Il-sung commemorations, Hua said China was “closely following” developments on the Korean peninsula.“We believe that, given the current situation, all relevant parties should exercise restraint and avoid activities that may escalate the tension.”

KANU'S ASSASSINATION PLOT: BOKO HARAM TOP SHOT TRANSFERRED TO KUJE PRISON

Buhari is convinced that the worst would be a war; Biafrans will go to second civil war and that will atone for any stupid mistake in tempering with the life of Kanu. This is a man that is ignorant of history and one who failed to draw comparisons. When Israel finished her war; she went back and made sure all that killed her children had a taste of death. When Biafrans are compared to Israelites; it simply means we have same feature and ancestry. Biafrans shall not only go to war but shall find Buhari and if he passes on before the reprisal; murder shall visit his children and grandchildren. There shall never be room for forgiveness and murder shall we give to all the actors or those responsible for the murder of our leader.

Meanwhile, a top Boko Haram suspect has been transferred to Kuje prison where Nnamdi Kanu A.K.A. Prisoner of Conscience (POC) is held. This is a condemned terrorist and with the information reaching IPOB; there is a motive behind such deadly transfer. "The Boko Haram suspect is a radical one; there was no reason to transfer him to Kuje prison where Nnamdi Kanu is; we tried to stop the transfer but the presidency persisted. We are not sure of the ulterior motive but this radical terrorist is a threat to the people in this prison and the focal figure is Nnamdi Kanu. If this condemned terrorist murder Nnamdi Kanu for whoever sent him here; there is nothing to lose because he would eventually die by hanging and neither would he confess. We see this as a suicide mission if there is ulterior motive for the transfer". The intelligence explicitly stated as presented. This has turned worrisome because there is the likelihood that the frustration of Buhari might be narrowed down to murder Nnamdi Kanu. There is no evidence to use against Kanu or can nail him; there is no witness and so for having no case against Kanu; they had chosen to stage manage his murder that leaked and now is assassination.

Buhari cannot afford to kill Nnamdi Kanu because Biafra is an ideology; we can choose to die; we can choose to target Aisha Buhari on a foreign trip; kill her and go to prison. We can choose to target Buhari's children where ever they are; murder them one after another and take life jail for good. Nnamdi is our only hope and murdering him will make life meaningless and hopeless; and I wonder what will be the state of men that have lost the reason to live on against men that want to live forever more. Staging a murder in the court and while going to court leaked and now is open assassination. Right from the beginning, there have been a relentless effort to murder Nnamdi Kanu and it has been failing. Nnamdi Kanu was arrested on the basis that he committed a crime and Buhari has not been able to prove the said offence. They have sought secret trial because they have nothing to show; they have migrated from one charge to another and yet nothing is coming out. Murdering Nnamdi Kanu will neither close this case but releasing Nnamdi Kanu and dialogue for the establishment of Biafra can close this case.

There is the need to remind all and sundry that the arrest and continued detention of Nnamdi Kanu is injustice and unlawful act. This injustice has continued without serious opposition from relevant bodies that should protect human rights. Murdering Nnamdi Kanu will be the craziest and barbaric thing to do; IPOB have been talking and talking; writing and writing like they cannot do and do fiercely. This peaceful approach has done more harm than good and Buhari has taken law, peace and order as weakness. While we wait painfully for the due time; leave our leader and go on murdering us because if you take this murder you heaped on us to our leader; we will not hold on any longer and hell will erupt.

BIAFRA: FULANI HERDSMEN: THEIR SUPPORT AND DSS FRAME UP

Tyrant Buhari
I have known Fulani herdsmen since childhood and when I was a kid I do enjoy seeing them; they go with cows and we come out cheering or playfully stoning the last flock or see them when they come out to buy bread or drink locally brewed “kai-kai”. My mother would warn me against stoning because she had already told me they often go with charms for protection. That is their normal way of protecting their selves against hostile animals and other things.

My comrade Oscar Lee had once posited that Fulani herdsmen turn to cows via magic or charm when grazing in a dangerous bush. There was actually no need for” arm” concern because there are no cow rustlers in Biafra land; I have never heard of cow rustling and even if it has happened; it has only happened on a low key. My mother used to own a shop they often come and buy beer or hot drink; after each drink, they stand and click their whips in a training-like session. We often hear of how they destroyed one farm land or another and when we tell them; they always promise never to go there or blame their inability to control their cows. There was mutual respect and there was fear as strangers; they seemed to be conscious of the fact that we also survive through farming as much as they survive through animal rearing. Destroying our farm for their cows to live is infringement and attack or threat to our existence.

I have never seen hostile Fulani herdsmen until recently and when Buhari became the president of Nigeria; Fulani menace surged and it became a massaged terrorism. They do nothing but the same work as Boko Haram though the difference remains that they don’t bomb us. They massacre us and kill in hundreds; leave us in fear and yet destroy our farms. They have been armed and nothing can be done about it. They walk like the owners of Nigeria and neither has Buhari warned or taken their atrocities serious. Hence Fulani herdsmen are the perpetrators; they have done nothing and that is why Agatu massacre was never condemned until Fayose fought gallantly. Though the condemnation is to fulfill all righteousness; there is a siege already laid; I have asked myself why Fulani herdsmen rose like a phoenix just minutes after Buhari was confirmed the president of Nigeria. Does it mean other presidents have been keeping them in bondage?- do they now feel like the owners of Nigeria?- or did Buhari urge them to go on with Usman Danfodio legacies?

There are questions and there should be answers. I have failed to comprehend how a common herder got armed and got trained on how to use AK47. Who bought those guns and for what purpose? If the gun is to chase or kill cattle rustlers; are herdsmen now security men or are cattle rustlers seen in this old eastern region? There is no how I can be convinced otherwise when I say that Fulani herdsmen are for the special purpose of Islamization and subjugation. There is great concern to be cautious of them before you will be silenced as Victor Umeh was silenced for condemning their activities. As these Fulani herdsmen are going about wrecking havoc; nothing has been done about it. When over five hundred people were killed in Agutu; to my greatest surprise; no single herdsman was arrested and neither was a probe initiated. No account or accusation was made or laid by the DSS and even in other places; it has been same case. Fulani herdsmen are beyond the law and cannot be touched or questioned and that is how it will remain as long as they foster the plan of Buhari.
Fulani herdsmen with AK47
The trending plan today is to accuse IPOB of kidnapping them and then DSS will increase their genocide rate on Biafra. The irresponsibility or the excess of Buhari’s security men to answer questions or curb Fulani terrorism has resulted to what I will describe as self defense. People cannot be dying every day and you expect them to keep dying because you want them to die. They will eventually stand and fight to live because life is precious even to a mad man or a new born baby that knows nothing. In Agatu, victims are fighting back the way they can; in Agwu people of the ravaged community are fighting to their best and now in Umuahia. Five Fulani herdsmen were reportedly attacked by strangers or residents in self defense or proactive measure to save the community from bloodbath or reprisal as the case may be and the Nigerian security triggered alarm, red light is blinking right now while in Agatu, Agwu and other places hundreds were killed, raped and kidnapped by Fulani herdsmen; no alarm was raised and no red light blinked. The DSS has quickly mentioned IPOB as behind the kidnap of the five Fulani herdsmen reported missing.

It is a sharp one to implicate IPOB so as to have reason for their cold genocide on Biafra. The Nigerian government have tried very much to demonize IPOB; it started from being tagged a terrorist organization to militant when vessel was hijacked; they quickly ran and accused IPOB of hijacking the vessel. Time was kind enough to disclose that IPOB has no hand in the hijack and yet IPOB received no apology. There have been one accusation or another just to undermine the peaceful and lawful nature of IPOB but it has failed; there is no need to worry as this latest move to tag IPOB kidnappers organization will fell. The sharp concern from the security men and the federal government concerning the kidnap of these Fulani herdsmen calls for concern. If 500 Agatu people could not attract condemnation from the presidency while the kidnap of the perpetrators of genocide, kidnap, rape, destruction of farms and murderers could attract this sharp response; then is fair to ask; who are Fulani herdsmen working for?

The reaction of the security men shows the president is deeply angered by the kidnap of his foot soldiers. The move by DSS to frame IPOB as kidnappers so as to get the ground or justify their unlawful incarceration, murder and forced disappearance of Biafrans is a futile effort. IPOB is a peaceful people of Biafra and it becomes funny when you accuse a nation of kidnapping five worthless and inconsequential figures. IPOB remains peaceful and when the time for arm struggle comes up; there won’t be need to accuse IPOB of doing anything because we shall do so openly. DSS should know that accusing IPOB of kidnapping five Fulani herdsmen is a big insult to the Biafra nation. Should we kidnap, we shall start from the President to the governors and then political class who are guilty of destruction and genocide.

Finally, it is important to remind the government of Nigeria the need to respect and maintain a good diplomatic tie with Biafra nation. The act of forcing and trying to demonize a peaceful people to be bad is a plan that will only backfire. IPOB has chosen to peacefully restore Biafra; even when we were massacred in Onitsha, Aba, Igweocha, Enugu etc, we stayed strong and endured the urge for reprisal. If we can still remain peaceful despite everything done so far; there is need to commend IPOB than go on imposing what IPOB cannot be on IPOB. The DSS should know that their failure to contain or contend Fulani onslaught is responsible for the self defense strangers or community residents may activate. As IPOB was accused of kidnapping Fulani herdsmen; IPOB should also be accused of the reprisal in Agutu and accused of the kidnap of a top military commander. IPOB should be accused of all the kidnapping going on in Nigeria to show a clear frustration of Nigerian government. IPOB will remain peaceful and hence IPOB has found out that peace frustrates FG, they will continue to remain peaceful.

BIAFRA: IPOB PRESS RELEASE: NOW THAT THE NIGERIAN ARMY HAVE ADMITTED THAT THEY KILLED UNARMED BIAFRANS, WHAT NEXT?

Dr. Chukwuemeka C. Iroanya
Today, 17th of March 2016, the Nigerian Chief of Army Staff and Borno State born Lt.-Gen. Tukur Yusuf Buratai, openly confessed and admitted that soldiers of the Nigerian Army opened fire and killed defenceless Biafrans who were conducting prayer sessions inside the football field of Ngwa High Schoool, Aba in Abia state in Biafraland. This genocidal action of the Nigerian Army happened on February 9, 2016. According to Nigeria’s Punch Newspaper, Lt. Gen. Tukur Buratai argued that his “soldiers could not have opened fire on the activists without provocation.” The Army Chief further stated that “We have our rules of engagement, the troops cannot just open fire.”

While dismissing the constitutionally-backed respect for human right and sanctity of human lives as guaranteed in section-33 of Nigeria’s 1999 Constitution, Lt.-Gen. Buratai boasted that “in situations that entail the use of fire, the protection of human rights does not apply.” In his display of crass ignorance of the Constitution and the Laws of Nigeria, the Army Chief surmised that “the 1999 Constitution, and the Armed Forces Act, all provided for the use of force when necessary.” But we could not locate in any of the 320 sections and seven schedules of the 1999 Constitution, which section that supported the dastardly acts of his soldiers. Neither did we find in any of the 292 sections and four schedules of the Armed Forces Act, CAP – A20 LFN 2004, where it stipulated the shooting of unarmed peaceful civilians in peacetime within the Federation of Nigeria. In addition, the civilized world will be interested to know what the Nigerian Army’s Rules of Engagement (ROE) are when confronted with Christians praying in a secluded ground.

In his conclusion, Lt.-Gen. Buratai assured that “we are already investigating it. When such incidents involve the loss of lives we usually conduct an investigation – that is our procedure.” From every word in the confessions of Lt.-Gen. Buratai, it is now indisputable that unarmed Biafrans were mowed down by the Nigerian soldiers. The Indigenous People of Biafra do hereby demand the convocation of an impartial investigative team and NOT the group hurriedly set up by the Army Chief considering that the Army is the aggressor in this case.
We further assert that the only credible entity which can carry out in-depth investigation is the International Criminal Court (ICC) in The Hague. The so-called investigating team arranged by the Chief of Army Staff is foundationally riddled with conflict of interest and lacks the moral compass to conduct quality investigation in a case of this magnitude. Therefore, the United Nations Human Rights Commission and other allied organizations should intervene and work with the ICC to conduct a thorough investigation now that the Nigerian Army through Lt.-Gen. Tukur Yusuf Buratai have confessed that they actually shot and killed unarmed Biafrans at Aba on the 9th of February 2016.

Buhari is not qualified to sign oil and gas contracts, Biafrans warn!

Buhari is not qualified to sign oil and gas contracts, Biafrans warn!

By Tim Tochukwu
For Family Writers

Buhari and his fellow power mongers from the Northern and Western parts of the contraption called Nigeria are working extra hard to continue to be in control of the oil-blocks in Biafraland. But Biafrans are now, more than ever before, ready to resist them, insisting that they (the North and the West) no longer have any moral or legal right to determine what happens to the resources in their land.

Now, with Forcados’, a major oil-pipeline in Burutu, Delta State, bombed; and the formation of more militant groups in the Niger Delta parts of Biafraland, the people are saying that it is no longer going to be business as usual. They are also saying that foreign countries and companies should get directly to Biafrans and negotiate oil and gas businesses with them rather than doing so with Nigeria – a contraption that has become an illegal entity since the end of 2014.

On Monday, February 15, the African Hitler, Muhammadu Buhari, announced to the world that he has deployed troops to the Niger Delta region (a part of Biafraland) to protect all the oil and gas pipelines. He said also that the deployment was meant to stop incessant kidnappings in the region. But Biafrans believed they knew better. They believed Buhari’s statement was another of Nigerian rulers’ lie-lines – saying one thing and meaning another. For them, the deployment was simply an effort by elements from the Northern and Western parts of Nigeria (the power mongers) who had been controlling the oil and gas fields in Biafraland to continue to maintain their strangle-hold on the industry.
The power mongers are in fact internal colonizers. They are Fulani and Yoruba peoples who rigged Buhari into power last year just to protect their interest in the oil and gas fields in Biafraland. The fact is that the Fulanis of the North and Yorubas of the West have been the ones usurping up to 95 per cent of the oil-blocks their land.

The subsisting allocation was to end by 2016 for a new allocation to be done, and they feared that Jonathan, as a Biafran would not allow the injustice to continue, and so had to be forced out of the Presidency. Their other fear about Jonathan was that he fashioned out a Petroleum Industry Bill (PIB) with Deziani Madueke, his oil minister. The bill was crafted to benefit oil producing communities. But the power hawks were afraid that Jonathan would influence the bill to be passed into law if he were allowed to win the election. With Jonathan out of the way after the so-called 2015 election, the next obstacle to be removed became the Biafran Independence agitators. The power mongers believed Jonathan would not be able to apply the strong arm tactics needed to achieve their aim. They believed Buhari, a Fulani man whose only qualification is that he hated Biafrans and was smuggled into the Army as a school dropout. Incidentally, Buhari had earlier made statements that met their requirements: “Igbos hated me because of my involvement in Biafra war (Igbos are Biafrans). If I have another opportunity, I will kill them to keep Nigeria one”.

Knowledgeable about the foregoing, Biafrans knew Buhari’s decision to deploy troops to the Niger Delta in Biafraland was to cow the people into submission or to provoke another Biafra/Nigeria war. Buhari saw the deployment as a win-win situation for him. On one hand, if he succeeds in cowing the people with the military, there would be a semblance of peace and investors would be encouraged to come and sign oil and gas deals with his government. On the other hand, if war eventually breaks out, countries sympathetic to Nigeria would help him with funds to prosecute the war and cater for displaced persons, in which case his cash-strapped government would get a reprieve. Painfully for Biafrans, there are no oil deposits in the North and West of Nigeria. But peoples from this area, who always fought to control the levers of power, always wanted the status-quo to remain, and were ever ready to kill Biafrans to achieve it.

ALSO READ "31-day ultimatum will expire on Monday, We don’t believe in much talk"--Militants

But this time around, Biafrans are warning that it would be a costly venture for any country or company to go into any form of oil and gas deal with Buhari on the resources that are in their land. They warn that any country or company doing that would be doing so at its own peril. Their argument is that the contraption called Nigeria had legally seized to exist, explaining that it was formed in 1914 by Britain and given a lifespan of 100 years which expired in 2014. Biafrans contend that having expired, that that nationality groups locked in the contraption have every right to exit if they so desire.

For them therefore, Buhari is not qualified to enter into any agreement that would be binding on Biafran peoples. They are calling on countries and company desirous of doing business in Biafran oil and gas to meet with Biafrans directly and negotiate with them. Biafrans are advising that the only route open for Buhari to help Nigeria have a stake in Biafra oil and gas again, would only be if he opened channels of discussion with Biafrans. They warn that unless this is done, that things would eventually get out of hand for him.Biafrans who spoke to Biafra Family writers expressed no surprise that new militant groups were springing up and oil pipelines were being bombed. They said the happenings were clear signals that the people would not honour agreements made by Buhari on their behalf. According to them, the African Hitler is not qualified to do so.

As Northern Governors Forge An Alliance With Saudi Arabia, What Should The South Do? [MUST READ]

Alhaji Shettima - Borno State Governor
“In the long run, if we are not careful, this conference will flop. God forbid. If it flops, the resultant effect will not be imaginable. If anything happens and the country disintegrates, God forbid, many of us who are shouting their heads off may not have anywhere to go. “My people and the people of Adamawa have got somewhere to go. I am the Lamido Adamawa and my kingdom extends to Cameroun. The larger part of my kingdom is in Cameroun. Part of that kingdom is today called Adamawa State in Cameroun. You see, if I run to that place, I will easily assimilate.” – Lamido Adamawa on the floor of the National Conference, 25th March, 2014.

I am still at loss as to why many delegates at the 2014 National Conference were shocked when Alhaji Barkindo Mustapha, the Lamido of Adamawa made these obvious and truthful confessions, though in anger, on the floor of that assembly. Maybe those who were scandalised by the remarks did not know of the truism that the ‘drunkén’ voice, what was hidden in his spirit that he would not have been said without intoxication.
Worse still, it may be that they do not understand the history of their own country or they are trying to build a tent in the village of denial. They do not want to accept the fact that the various nationalities within Nigeria were brought together by circumstances and that we have made no conscious effort to make a salad bowl out of our lettuce, carrot, tomato, egg and other distinct ingredients.
I still don’t know till date what is that strong link between I and the Lamido and a Yoruba man in Benin Republic than that Lord Lugard found a “northern suitor” for the “southern lady of means” and decided to amalgamate North and South into the geographical expression called Nigeria. While I can trace my genealogy to hundreds of years within this space, the likes of Lamido may already be out of the Nigerian space by the time they are giving a description of their grandfathers.
This is at the root of the clash of civilisations in Nigeria which we have pretended to overlook for as long as we were sharing oil money. We kept on shouting a deception called “One Nigeria” for as long as the party was on but relieving who we truly are in moments of stress. The collapse of the oil economy has, however, brought the damn lie to a cold end.
Cold end to a damn lie
And nothing typifies that reality than a report in The Nation Newspaper of January, 31 2016 under the caption, “Rebuilding: Northern Governors Begin Talks With Saudi Bank”. The Saudi meeting coming up weeks after the crackdown on Shi’ites Muslims is quite instructive. I reproduce the story below:
“A fresh initiative by northern governors to address the turbulent developmental challenges in the region gets underway today in Jeddah, Saudi Arabia where the governors are commencing talks with the Islamic Development Bank (IDB).
“Leading the governors’ delegation at the three -day talks is Governor Kashim Shettima of Borno State who doubles as Chairman of the Northern States Governors ‘ Forum (NSGF).
“The decision to seek critical development partnership with the IDB was taken at the governors’ meeting last September in Kaduna.
“Governor Shettima’s spokesman, Malam Isa Gusau, confirmed that the Nigerian delegation arrived Jeddah yesterday. He said they will hold discussion with the IDB President, Ahmad Mohamed Ali and the bank’s Vice President, Operations on a wide range of possible areas of collaboration.
“They are also scheduled to meet with the Islamic Corporation for the Development of the Private Sector (ICD); International Islamic Trade Finance Corporation (ITFC); Islamic Corporation for the Insurance of Investment & Export Credit (ICIEC); Islamic Research and Training Institute (IRTI), Islamic Solidarity Fund for Development (ISFD). Focus will be on agriculture, poverty eradication, education, maternal mortality and other problems most prevalent in the north.
“Also on the delegation are Governors Tanko Almakura of Nassarawa; Nasiru El-Rufai of Kaduna State and Mohammed Badaru Abubakar of Jigawa State. Others are top officials of the New Nigerian Development Company owned by the 19 northern States, selected Commissioners of Agriculture, Education, Post Insurgency Reconstructions, Rehabilitation and Resettlement, Home Affairs, Economic Planning, former Presidential Chief Economic Adviser Dr. Tanimu Yakubu Kurfi, some technical resource consultants and facilitators engaged by the NSGF.”
It is interesting how “one nation, one destiny” has given way to regional initiative based on civilisation with the crash of the oil economy. Now that the North has gone to Saudi to start its rebuild, where should the south go? One would have thought that the northern governors should have remembered those who were waiving the broom with them from the south eight months ago-after all, many of them also face the same direction pray!
A country within a country
It is not the first time the governors of the North are telling the rest of us they are a country within the country. The White House website had a report on March 19, 2014 with the caption “Susan Rice Meets Governors from Nigeria”:
“Yesterday, National Security Advisor Susan E. Rice welcomed 12 governors and one deputy-governor from Nigeria to the White House to discuss areas of strategic importance to both the United States and Nigeria.
“Ambassador Rice and the governors discussed the need to bring an end to the violence and insurgency in northern Nigeria; create broad-based economic opportunity in the north and throughout Nigeria; protect and respect human rights; strengthen democratic governance; and ensure that the 2015 elections in Nigeria are free and fair.
“The meeting was an important opportunity to underscore the U.S. partnership with the government — at both the federal and state levels — and people of Nigeria. The visiting officials represented Nigeria’s north and middle belt, which face numerous security, development, and socio-economic challenges.
“The leaders shared their concerns about the ongoing Boko Haram insurgency that has indiscriminately killed hundreds of innocent Nigerians this year. She and the governors agreed on the need for comprehensive approaches to counter-insurgency that couple security measures with deepened investment to promote opportunity and development across the country.
“Ambassador Rice drew special attention to the importance of Nigeria’s 2015 elections; the role that governors can play in countering corruption; and how the United States remains committed to partnering with Nigeria to address shared challenges.”
Of all the items discussed at this meeting it was only Boko Haram that was partially a northern Nigeria affair. I pray for the day the southern governors will have testicular fortitude to step out of this country as a group to hold this kind of meeting.
Meanwhile, I want to see if the Northern governors will come back from Saudi and say whatever they bring should go to the Federation account for us to handle it the way we have done with oil proceeds from Niger Delta and the VAT from Lagos and other southern states.
Now that the North is brazenly showing that it is falling back on its civilisation to rebuild is the time to push for autonomy for the different regions of Nigeria. The South -South seems to have harmonised just as well as the South East, it is only my Yorubaland that is still presently confused playing useless politics while others are playing region in spite of “Kogi harvest.”
If the South will apply itself, only oil has become useless but you have 1001 other things to develop that you don’t have to take a bowl outside this country. Nations will come trooping here to ask for these stuff.
The lie called Nigeria
The founding fathers of Nigeria said it in different ways and they have not been countermanded till date:
“Since 1914 the British Government has been trying to make Nigeria into one country, but the Nigerian people themselves are historically different in their backgrounds, in their religious beliefs and customs and do not show themselves any signs of willingness to unite … Nigerian unity is only a British invention” – Alhaji Sir Abubakar Tafawa Balewa, 1948.

“Nigeria is not a nation. It is a mere geographical expression. There are no ‘Nigerians’ in the same sense as there are ‘English,’ ‘Welsh,’ or ‘French,’ The word ‘Nigeria’ is a mere distinctive appellation to distinguish those who live within the boundaries of Nigeria and those who do not” – Chief Obafemi Awolowo, 1947.

“It is better for us and many admirers abroad that we should disintegrate in peace and not in pieces. Should the politicians fail to heed the warning, then I will venture the prediction that the experience of the Democratic Republic of Congo will be a child’s play if it ever comes to our turn to play such a tragic role” – Dr Nnamdi Azikiwe, 1964.

The Nigerian idea still remains a lie. It is either we make a conscious effort to let it be true by constructing a “salad bowl” country or let each group migrate into its own civilisation.
