  BREAKING: The Nation Newspaper Apologises To IPOB Over Misleading Publication

'The Nation Newspaper' has publicly apologised to the Indigenous People Of Biafra(IPOB) over a false and misleading publication the media house made on Saturday the 10th of December 2022. 'The Nation Newspaper' falsely alleged that the 5-days illegal “Sit-At-Home order” which was issued by criminal elements were made by IPOB. 'The Nation' went further to wrongly accused IPOB that the gunmen who killed over 7 innocent people of which majority were elderly women in Enugu and Imo states, were enforcing a Sit-At-Home order of IPOB.

In reaction, Barrister Ifeanyi Ejiofor, the lead counsel of IPOB frowned at the publication, called it mischievous and malicious. Ejiofor reminded the editors and publishers of 'The Nation Newspaper' that the general public, including those working in 'The Nation Newspaper' are very aware that IPOB never ordered any Sit-At-Home in the South-East or elsewhere. The lawyer clarified that this dissociation is contained in a press release made earlier by Emma Powerful(the IPOB Media and Publicity Secretary) since 5th December, 2022 on the directive of Mazi Nnamdi Kanu, the IPOB leader. 

Wondering why 'The Nation Newspaper' could feign ignorant of such loud detachment press from an internationally recognised and respected movement as IPOB, Ejiofor demanded that 'The Nation Newspaper' urgently tenders an unreserved public apology to IPOB for the misleading report, or have their day in court with IPOB legal team if it(The Nation) dares delay compliance to the demand.

Fast forwarding to 11th December 2022, Barrister Ejiofor updated the loyal members of the Nnamdi Kanu led IPOB and supporters, a sect Ejiofor and Kanu prefers to address as 'UmuChineke'. In the update of the IPOB lawyer, which was made on his offcial facebook and Twitter platforms, he notified of a quick compliance by 'The Nation Newspaper', as demanded.

"Our demand made yesterday, 10th December 2022, requesting The Nation Newspaper to immediately retract their misleading publication, which attributed the sit-at-home order/killings that took place on 9th December, 2022 to IPOB refers" .

"We hereby, acknowledge the immediate retraction and apology to the Indigenous People of Biafra (IPOB), from The Nation Newspaper (see attached) in compliance with our demand", Ejiofor said. 

In the apology made by 'The Nation', they acknowledged that they made the report in error, and regrets making such an erroneous report. 

"We had erroneously reported that the order was given by IPOB without making reference to the disclaimer made by the IPOB counsel in our report published yesterday. The error is highly regretted as there was no deliberate attempt to cast the group in a bad light" -- The Nation Newspaper said.
