Mazi Nnamdi Kanu's Legal Battle Continues
The federal high court in Abuja was set today, the 18th of January, 2022 to continue the proceedings on the case of Mazi Nnamdi Kanu, the leader of the Indigenious People Of Biafra(IPOB), following the previous seven counts amended charges by the Nigeria government against Kanu.
But the lawyers of the defendant(Kanu) reminded the Judge of newly amended charges from the prosecution, which they have not had the time to review. So, they pleaded that the presiding Judge, Justice Binta Nyako allow them the time to discuss with their client( Mr. Kanu) and study the fresh amendment that is submitted by the prosecution.
Recall that Mazi Nnamdi Kanu lawyers complained on 17th of January 2022 about being handed a fresh Fifteen(15) count charges amendment from the office of the Director of Public Prosecution of the federal republic of Nigeria, barely 24-hours to the scheduled date of the trial.
To this effect, Justice Nyako has granted the plea of Kanu's Legal team and adjourned the hearing of the case to 19th January, 2022
