Any Shackle On Mazi Nnamdi Kanu Is A Shackle on Ndi-Igbo (Part 1)

Any Shackle On Mazi Nnamdi Kanu Is A Shackle on Ndi-Igbo (Part 1)

The truth must be told no matter how deep and scary it sounds. When the truth is usually told, everything else falls in its right place . As it's going on with Ndi-Igbo (Igbo people) as fact  that a shackle on Mazi Nnamdi Kanu's hands is a shackle on the hands of all Igbos, which is beyond the political shenanigans and long drawn out legal quagmire, a great symbolism of his detention, of course represents —Igbos in chains.

The Fulani-controlled Nigerian government is fully aware that the Igbo elders and politicians have sealed their mouths with money. The freedom of Mazi Nnamdi Kanu became somewhat difficult. The Fulanis are tacitly delaying his bail through unnecessary court adjournments. The same Fulanis believe strongly that as long as they have Nnamdi Kanu locked up, they are playing the devil with Ndi-Igbo and that truth would not be known as we people no longer pamper words around the ongoing genocide in Igboland.

Regrettably, some Igbos do not buy the idea that genocide is gradually taking place in the land, so they glory in their alternative theory ---the denial of the obvious. They feel that there is nothing to the game that Buhari government is playing on Ndi-Igbo other than tribal politics. They also believe it will fizzle out as soon as Buhari leaves office. This group of Igbos see things from a short time perspective and seem pretty economical with the truth, with no desire to see themselves in many Igbo families who are directly affected by the air bombardments, indiscriminate shootings and killings by the members of the Nigerian military.

For another group of Igbos, the struggle for the restoration of Biafra seems alien and somewhat unrealistic, since they are yet to determine whether the new nation being fought for, holds more promise for them than the failed Nigerian state. They are only concerned with their pocket book and give no pin for the illegal detention of Mazi Nnamdi Kanu or the struggle, with the feeling that, they are well-off. Unfortunately, they are in this state of mind largely because they have never had the real taste of freedom and when they do, they will surely wish it does come much earlier.

Similarly, some other Igbos swing between decisions, being fearful of the unknown and would prefer to sit on the fence than to take the field. What they lack sadly, is the sense of time and place, for if they really know the time and where Nigeria is headed, they will know that the more Ndi-Igbo delay and hope for the triumph of the better angels of Nigeria, the more they will put their heads in a noose.

The drama and the injustice that have so far played out in the courtroom, was enough to trigger off righteous indignation for the time the process lasted. The atmosphere in the courtroom was odd and very suspicious, the communications were such absorbed, as they were in codes ominously indicated body languages, the kind that give breath to horror; even send the whirlwind on a deathly cruise around town and draw down a torrential rain of cataclysmic stock.

As you read this article, there is a bill in the Nigerian Senate proposing "hanging" as the punishment for hate speech and you know, it became a hate speech when you attack a corrupt government or its destructive policies, evidenting it's  way of blotting out freedom of speech. It's really an attack on humanity for speech restrictions,  preponderance of the Fulanis in the Nigerian Senate. This bill is likely to pass and then, it will be used against Mazi Nnamdi Kanu. Now kindly capture  the glimpse of the secrecy behind the frequent adjournment of his court case and the adjustments to the charges against him.

Ndi-Igbo, it's all coming down to the wire. The night grumbles with impatience and darkness is fast approaching. So we must find the black goat at once. Seeing, they say, is believing but in this frail and unfaithful times, believing is seeing. And this paradox could not be more useful now that the tail wags the dog. Ndi-Igbo, Ndi-Igbo, there could not be a better time than now to believe that caution is an action word. Then let us apply caution.
