I want to state that every person on earth has both biological and cultural heritage which are their true identities before God and man. The Indigenous People of Biafra (IPOB), is not an organization or a political party of any sort but a movement of a people with a leader, Mazi Nnamdi Kanu. The movement is one hundred percent (100%) representing the ideology of the Biafran people on sovereignty, culture, economy and heritage, in all spheres of life. The movement enjoys a huge following of indigenous Biafrans hence it represents the opinions of the greater population of the people. Over ninety percent (90%) of Biafrans are supporters of Mazi Nnamdi Kanu as their leader and IPOB as a movement because they have discovered the fulfillment of their age long aspirations and dreams in them. IPOB has never called for war against the Nigerian state but rather, a referendum. unfortunately, the Nigerian state has taken the call for a referendum as the call for war which is clearly demonstarted by the rulers' heavy deployment of combat soldiers to Biafraland. This has led to further killings of innocent people in market places and on the streets as it's being witnessed today in various parts of Biafra especially in Orlu, Imo State.
The peaceful protests of the Indigenous People of Biafra (IPOB), for a referendum, attracted uncivilized and extra-judicial killings of the people in Rivers (Igweocha), Akwa Ibom, Cross River, Bayelsa, Delta, Anambra, Igodomigodo (Edo), Lower Benue, Abia, Imo, Enugu, Ebonyi States, etcetera, by the Nigerian army and other security forces. The movement has remained civil and commited to rules of engagement in this freedom struggle. It is transparent to ensure that all human rights are well respected, depicting the true nature of the Biafran people. Maazi Nnamdi Kanu is a true Biafran in the sense and has led IPOB well. His resistance to government's tyranny, truth to the powers that be and advocacy for Biafrans, are just few of many attributes that many crave for and love him for. Meanwhile, these reasons have remained saliently cherished and as well, have kept the ship afloat in their drive for freedom.
These people who rose from the ashes to become one of the most enterprising people globally, are only asking for their independence but have been given death and victimization instead. They peacefully protested and were murderously shot at. Their mothers, wives and sisters were raped. These people have been blatantly denied their rights, unjustly restrained at all fronts of diplomacy. This time around, they have said never again! Never again will they allow themselves to be massacred anywhere. Nigeria definitely has pride and will insist on military brutality but could it ever be imagined that these same indigenous people are freely giving themselves to be shot dead for what they rightly believe in? What do you think could eventually happen when they are all armed for war? This is a food for thought for the concerned.
