Information reaching Family Writers Press International has it that the trigger-happy Nigerian police officers mounting checkpoints even within the Port Harcourt metropolitan city, callously engage on routine illegal extortions from taxi and keke drivers without recourse to the law. The young keke driver whose identity has not yet been established as at the time of this report, was summarily shot dead for his failure to part with a hundred naira (N100.00) bribe to the police.

The youths angered by this act of callousness, impunity and brutality, massively thronged the scene of the incident, taking the corpse of the deceased keke driver to the Rumuokoro police station. On their arrival however, police officers committed additional crime by sporadically shooting at the massive crowd of protesting youths, seriously injuring many.
More details are being awaited!
