AMOTEKUN: IGBO LEADERS SHOULD COME UP WITH A REGIONAL SECURITY ALTERNATIVE AND COVER UP THEIR SHAME
Obviously, every part of Nigeria presently, seems to have totally lost confidence in the security architecture of the Nigerian government. This has unfortunately snowballed into the formation of regional security outfits to curb the menace of incessant and unwarranted lost of lives and properties. All Igbo sons and daughters domiciled within Igboland and in the diaspora, should demand that Igbo governors/politicians and the Ohaneze Ndigbo socio-cultural group, immediately give a replacement to the disbanded Biafra Security Services (BSS), earlier floated by the leader of the Indigenous People of Biafra (IPOB) himself, in 2017. These group of Igbo leaders in their connivance and betrayal, and in the bid to massage their egoistic interests, plotted against it's existence.
They should redeem their image now when the ovation is loudest, by replacing BSS with an intelligent and courageous security outfit as every part of Nigeria will soon be having the taste of venomous terrorism from the Fulani janjaweed that will be trooping in from the Sahel region of Africa. It should be recalled that quite recently, the Oduduwa region (South-West) which is predominantly Yoruba, courageously established their own regional security organization named "OPERATION AMOTEKUN". This security outfit was put together for the sole purpose of providing unbiased security to lives, properties and livelihood in the Oduduwa region. This is a commendable stride fashioned out by the six Yoruba governors, socio-cultural/political leaders, traditional rulers amongst others. It is a big shame and a display of hypocrisy that the same Ohaneze Ndigbo socio-cultural group led by John Nnia Nwodo, commended the Yoruba leaders for supporting Odua' People's Congress (OPC), for establishing Amotekun. It is this shameless Igbo group that called for the head of the IPOB leader, Mazi Nnamdi Kanu when he launched Biafra Security Services (BSS), sometimes in 2017 to provide security across Biafraland against the marauding Fulani killer herdsmen.
Moreover, in Sun Newspapers publication released on Saturday 11th January 2020, Plateau State Governor, Simon Lalong, speaking on behalf of his colleagues in the Northern States, made it clear that the formation of a Northern security outfit to curb the incessant acts of insecurity in the region was in the offing. The global community should note that presently, the core Arewa Northern Nigeria is operating a law enforcement agency called "Hisbah Sharia Police". Yet, this does not suffice as they are bent on establishing another security organization which will be saddled with the responsibility of securing the entire Northern region as the Plateau State governor earlier stated.
In as much as the Igbos in particular or Biafrans in general will have nothing against the establishments of Amotekun security outfit in Yorubaland, Hisbah Sharia Police with any additional regional security organization in the Arewa North, it is obviously necessary to at this juncture, compel the Igbo governors and the Ohaneze Ndigbo group to without further delay, float in Igboland, a formidable, trusted, reputable, and responsible regional security outfit that will comprehensively checkmate the activities and growing menace of Fulani killer herdsmen against the indigenous natives. Since the Igbo governors with Ohaneze Ndigbo connived and betrayed Biafra Security Services (BSS) earlier established by IPOB and hypocritically proscribed it's activities due to the frivolous interests of their Arewa slavemasters, the dice is now cast. The Ohaneze Ndigbo socio-cultural group led by John Nnia Nwodo must as a matter of responsibility, synergize with the South-East governors led by Dave Umahi and establish one that will diligently provide security to the entire region now or forever, cover their faces in shame.
If the Igbo populace choose to keep sealed lips and refuse to compel these political merchants that are presently occupying exalted political offices in Igboland, to come up with a formidable and unbiased regional security outfit, soon it should be clearly stated, that the people will begin to regret it. There is no how that both the Oduduwa and Arewa lands will be secured by their own indigenous security guards and Biafraland in it's entirety, will remain porous for all these "wolves" and "ravenous Islamic terrorists" to be accessing our domains and wrecking havoc with reckless abandon. No, not anymore!
