STATE-SPONSORED TERROR ATTACK ON BARRISTER IFEANYI EJIOFOR AND THE VICIOUS THREAT TO JUSTICE

STATE-SPONSORED TERROR ATTACK ON BARRISTER IFEANYI EJIOFOR AND THE VICIOUS THREAT TO JUSTICE

On the bright side of humanity, human rights and privileges are demanded in the courts which supposedly remain the only last hope of the oppressed. It is the only avenue for accountability left for the civilian population against government's acts of lawlessness and tyranny. There is this saying that has it that "any injury to one, is an injury to all". There absolutely cannot be peace without justice and freedom. The orchestrated acts of despotism, subjugation, rage and terror against the person of Barrister Ifeanyi Ejiofor by the Nigerian government,  definitely call for serious concern amongst sane humans. The callous incessant attacks on the principles of justice by the drivers of the Nigerian State, depict grave danger, recklessness and lawlessness.

The Nigerian Police Force and the Army amongst other security agencies, are today being totally infested with members of Boko Haram terrorists who are on the prowl of murderous attacks carried out against lawyers, aimed fundamentally, to permanently cow the advocates in the Nigerian courts. With the terrorist attack precipitated on the person of Barrister Ifeanyi Ejiofor, a renowned, senior legal counsel within the Nigerian contraption, is to say the least, most despicable. He is the leading legal representative of the Indigenous People of Biafra (IPOB) that has been levied with grossly frivolous charges by the Nigerian government.  Prior to this time, IPOB has in the courts, various forms of inconsequential allegations aimed at denying them their inalienable rights to freedom as a movement. Severally, members have at one point or the other, been granted unconditional releases by the judges due to the intelligence and courage of Barrister Ifeanyi Ejiofor. This insurmountable feat was the reason behind the latest orgy of state-sponsored terrorism onslaught on his person, quite contrary to the provisions of the Nigerian constitution.

In their desperation and frustration to permanently silence the voice of justice and freedom, the Nigerian government viciously turned their acts of terror to humane and amiable legal practitioners. This wave of evil commenced with the violent removal of Justice Walter Onnoghen from office as the Chief Justice of the Federation. He was replaced by a Sharia Judge known as Tanko Muhammed. Range of disobedience to court orders and threats to the lives of judges are evidential pointers to this official insanity and impunity. Justice Binta Nyako, a Fulani judge, recently had announced to the global community with untamed temerity, that the safest place to be in Nigeria is in the prison yard. Not even the pitiably compromised Senate, House of Representatives nor human rights organisations could boldly condemn such an utterance from a supposed democratic representative of the citizenry. It is evidentially clear that even the Nigerian Bar Association (NBA) has also been hijacked by the Fulani Caliphate.

This spate of intimidation started with the civilian population comprising of the members of the Indigenous People of Biafra (IPOB), down to the Shi'ite Islamic adherents simply because the silence of the overwhelming Nigerian civilian populace, kept sealed lips on the ravenous tyranny of the government which has now been brazenly extended to the domain of the legal practitioners.

The murderous and cowardly attack on Barrister Ifeanyi Ejiofor, a reputable lawyer in Nigeria, is totally an attack on justice, free speech, expression and association. It is an act of gross abuse of human rights and a crackdown on the image of the Nigerian legal system represented by the NBA. This must be condemned in it's entirety by every conscientious civil rights organisations in accordance with the law. The Nigerian Bar Association (NBA), should arise from it's docility and actively put up a fight against this maladious enterprise.
