CANDLELIGHT/MEMORIAL SERVICE IN HONOR OF BIAFRA FALLEN HEROES/HEROINES

CANDLELIGHT/MEMORIAL SERVICE IN HONOR OF BIAFRA FALLEN HEROES/HEROINES

The Indigenous People of Biafra (IPOB) Oginigba zone in Igweocha Province, Biafraland, in compliance with the directive of the IPOB leadership, held a Candlelight/Memorial Service on Wednesday 29th May 2019, being the eve of the IPOB organized annual Biafra Heroes/Heroines Remembrance Day for 2019, in honor of Biafra slain Heroes and Heroines.

The Oginigba zonal coordinator, Mazi Onyedikachi Bright Uba, detailed the reason of the gathering as a response to the instruction of the IPOB leadership in honor of our slain heroes and heroines who were killed by successive Nigerian governments since the forceful amalgamation of 1914.

The eventful memorial service which lasted for hours, had Mazi Christian Aninwe anchoring sessions of praises/worships, prayers of thanksgiving to God Almighty for His love and mercy upon Biafrans and forgiveness of sin. There were also prayers to God for His intervention on the plight of Biafrans in the hands of the Islamic government of Nigeria, for successful and imminent restoration of the sovereign nation of Biafra, for the protection of IPOB leader - Mazi Nnamdi Kanu and the array of highly enlightened leadership officials, as well as IPOB family members globally. An encouraging testimony was given by the zonal women leader, Mrs. Ngozi Sandra George about the restoration of Biafra. She on behalf of a sister, stated that in a revelation, Biafran nation was born, so amazingly beautiful and promising to behold. Everyone was seen rejoicing with fulfilled dream. The birth heralded an era of progressive, prosperous and reassuring homeland. Mrs. George encouraged all to be faithful, resilient and committed as the restoration of Biafra is quite imminent.

A very touching narrative of the Biafra/Nigeria war was given by a Biafran veteran, Mazi Uwakwem Udechukwu. In the talk titled: "THE IMPORTANCE OF BIAFRA WAR AND WHY PEOPLE SACRIFICED THEIR BLOOD", he stated that the war was unreservedly waged against the invading enemies due to series of persecution of Biafrans by the descendants of Uthman Dan Fodio. Drawing reference from the biblical Gideon and his army, he extolled the virtues and the ingenuity of Biafrans even in the face of daunting challenges. He maintained that Nigeria is synonymous with evil, artificiality, death, toxicity, and retrogression whose existence expired in 2014. Biafra on the other hand, is original, godly and progressive whose literal meaning is "Come and Join". Biafra stands for acceptability, hospitality and greatly treasures life. Mazi Uwakwem Udechukwu maintained that it was the failure of the Yakubu Gowon led Nigeria government to keep to the tenants of "Aburi Accord" entered with Biafrans ably represented by the late People's General, Chukwuemeka Odimegwu Ojukwu, that actually triggered off the war as Biafrans could no longer stomach the inhuman treatments meted out against them across Nigeria particularly within the Northern region. In the year 1966, Biafrans encountered unbearable orgy of violence as many were gruesomely murdered and their means of livelihood either wantonly destroyed or confiscated. There were state-sponsored policies of marginalisation, pauperisation and enslavement. Biafrans have to courageously rise in defense of their people and fatherland by getting enlisted into the Biafran army. They were in the trenches for an unbroken period of three good years (1967-1970), ferociously fighting against the invading Nigerian vandals who were militarily supported by Britain, Russia, Egypt and other Arab countries. Millions of Biafrans including women, children and the elderly were criminally murdered not just by random/senseless air raids on soft targets but through air, sea and land blockades. Many died out of starvation. The Biafran veteran passionately eulogised the sacrifices of late Biafra military leaders and war strategists in the persons of late Chukwuemeka Odimegwu Ojukwu, Philip Effiong, Achuzie, Onwuatuegwu and dogged Biafran combatants both dead and alive. He appreciated the efforts and sacrifices of Mazi Nnamdi Kanu, the IPOB global leader and other outstanding hardcores who are really out to get the Biafran nation completely restored. Mazi Uwakwem Udechukwu encouraged all to be resilient, courageous and committed in the restoration struggle for Biafra is already here with us.

The IPOB Oginigba zonal coordinator, Mazi Onyedikachi Bright Uba read out a brief documented funeral oration in respect of the Biafra fallen Heroes and Heroines. He extolled their virtues and sacrifices in laying down their lives that we may live. He enjoined all to imbibe those sterling qualities that have seen these freedom champions being remembered today.

The event climaxed  through the lighting of candles in procession by the zonal family members. A minute silence was observed in honor of the slain. Prayers were also offered for the repose of their souls even as they pursue and torment all enemies of the Biafran people.

The zonal coordinator, in bringing the exercise to a close, gratefully thanked God for the successful memorial service. He appreciated the attendees for their presence and further encouraged them to remain resolute especially by complying with the "Sit-At-Home" mandate slated for the 30th of May 2019.
