BICOE Declares Support For
Election Boycott
The Indigenous Biafra Indigenous
Council of Elders, BICOE, has declared its support for the boycott of the
upcoming presidential elections in Nigeria.
In a proclamation made on
Thursday during a meeting in Obigbo, Igweocha (Rivers State), the elders reiterated
the call for Biafra referendum, saying it is the only way to let the masses
decide their fate.
Speaking after the proclamation,
the president of BICOE, H.R.M Bishop Tete Etim Peter, urged everyone to boycott
the elections.
He said "Those they are telling
us to vote for do not care about us, all they care for is their selfish
interest."
"Our demand just as Nnamdi
Kanu said, is referendum, not elections. Since they do not want to conduct
referendum, then we have to boycott their useless election".
"If you observe carefully,
you'll see that the country have already divided itself but they are trying to
hide the fact under their grammatical expression "One Nigeria". One
thing the government should note is that Biafra freedom is not negotiable for
anything else."
"We the elder won't
participate in the election".
