REASONS WHY BIAFRANS MUST SUPPORT IPOB'S BOYCOTT OF 2019 ELECTIONS

REASONS WHY BIAFRANS MUST SUPPORT IPOB'S BOYCOTT OF 2019 ELECTIONS

It is no longer news that the Indigenous People of Biafra (IPOB) worldwide, ably led by Mazi Nnamdi Kanu will not participate in the upcoming 2019 general elections in Nigeria. This position was further reaffirmed by IPOB's leader during his maiden live radio broadcast from the holy city of Jerusalem on the 8th of December 2018 and on each of his subsequent special broadcasts every Saturday since then. Radio Biafra London, Biafra television and all Biafran media outlets have tenaciously continued to toe the same line on daily basis, reminding and urging Biafrans to up our liberation game of total boycott of 2019 general elections.

IPOB's boycott of Nigeria organized elections started in 2014 and was also effected during the last governorship election held in Anambra State, which resulted in less than one percent voters turnout, thus posing gross legitimacy questions for Mr. Willy Obiano, the announced winner of the shambolic election. This trend will be voraciously replicated by IPOB in the forthcoming 2019 general election across the entire Biafraland until  the Nigerian government yields to our legitimate demand for a date for our referendum to resolve the restoration question of our dear nation, Biafra. The question then is: Why boycott Nigerian elections?

Firstly, we are Biafrans and should have nothing to do with elections conducted by a foreign entity like Nigeria. When Biafra comes, we shall have more than enough elections entrenching our democracy that will add value to our lives as a people.

Secondly, Nigeria is not a democracy and will never be. Elections in Nigeria are comical, a farce, a sham and a charade where votes do not count. Joseph Stalin, former President of defunct Soviet Union Socialist Republic (USSR), certainly had Nigeria in mind when he aptly stated: ''the people who vote decide nothing, the people who count the vote decide everything'' . The result is that elections in Nigeria do not reflect the exact will of the people but that of the Fulani Islamic hegemonic interests that keep the country in perpetual retrograde conditions.

All kinds of characters are produced as leaders in Nigeria's warped electoral system which include certificate forgers, certified 419ners, illiterates, thieves, professional economic saboteurs, drug barons, pen pushers, terrorists,  vampires, political hooligans, etcetera. The result on Nigeria and its people is obvious to all to see, creating a failed state that is unable to provide even the most basic of stately responsibilities like clean water, safety of lives and properties, healthcare for all, electricity and jobs for the unemployed.

Nigeria as a country, has some of the worst socio-economic indices in the world and is currently the world's poverty capital, a position economic pundits predict would be retained for the next quarter of a century. No wonder, Nigeria has one of the highest emigration rates in the global community. So we Biafrans do not want to be part of this Nigerian charade called elections with such astonishingly negative results.

Thirdly, liberation movements the world over, always refuse to legitimize the warped electoral systems put in place by their oppressors. Biafra is not the first. IPOB is simply following the historic tradition of genuine liberation movements. In South Africa, the African National Congress (ANC), led by legends like Nelson & Winnie Mandela, Oliver Tambo, Govan Mbeki, Walter & Albertina Sisulu, Joe Slovo and Chris Hani, bluntly refused to participate in the charades that were called elections by the racist South African government.

They boycotted all elections organized by the racist government until the liberation of South Africa from colonial interlopers in 1994. In Eritrea, the Asayas Aferweki led Eritrean Peoples Liberation Front (EPF), boycotted all elections organized by imperial Ethiopia until the liberation of Eritrea in 1991. In South Sudan, the comrade John Nyinyin Garang led liberation movement, the Sudanese Peoples Liberation Movement (SPLM), boycotted all elections organized by the Islamic government based in Khartoum until victory was achieved in 2010.

The same strategy of elections boycott were deployed by liberation movements in India, Zimbabwe, Angola, Mozambique and East Timor. No successful liberation movement in modern times, participated in elections organized by the colonizing or invading forces, as doing so will validate such illegalities and strengthening their oppressive policies against the people.

Fourthly, IPOB's boycott of all Nigerian organized elections if fully complied with by Biafrans, will unmistakably show the international community and humanity at large that we are serious about our independence and readily prepared to see Nigeria out of our Nation for good. This will herald our referendum and usher in our freedom. All Biafrans therefore have a responsibility to ensure the success of IPOB's boycott strategy of the upcoming Nigerian general elections in 2019.
