A RESTRUCTURED AFRICA WILL USHER IN PEACE

A RESTRUCTURED AFRICA WILL USHER IN PEACE

In the light of damning under-developments and conflicts bedevilling the African continent, it is not out of place to state that a restructured Africa will restore the much needed peace. Various countries within the continent should be made to go through this policy by their leaders for peace and development to be manifested. African countries are sharply divided along tribal, ethnic, cultural and religious lines. Amongst these, the most alienating and destructive are tribal, ethnic and cultural differences. Most tribes and ethnicities within the continent have it as irreligious, associating with certain nationalities and so, they begin to seek for different fora to place demands for either a referendum, restructuring or outright sovereignty.

Without apologies, I  make bold to state here that the present day Africa, was structured by the European and American colonialists through their policies of alienating or partitioning tribe A in the North and tribe B in the West, whilst others in the East and South were made to see themselves as enemies respectively. Drawing analogy from Germany and Spain for instance, which are developed nations and going by their mental, intellectual, economical, social and institutional prowess etcetera, it is irrefutably correct to say that they would not have attained such heights even peacefully, if they were lumped together as a country.

Each country in Africa has irrationally been structured in such a way that it breeds under-development, conflicts and retrogression. It is beyond imagination, what catastrophic experience it would have been, if nations like France, Spain, Denmark, Norway, Holland and United Kingdom were one country without the consent of their citizens. Just also consider contrapting Mexico, United States of America and Costa Rica as an entity. How would such an arrangement work? "No matter how civilized one is, one can never change his/her identity". The worst case scenario has always been rough when a tribe/ethnicity realizes it's impoverishment/subjugation and says enough is enough and begins to place demands for a change in government. This of course, will trigger off a measure of resistance and unacceptability when the beneficiaries resort to arming them to destabilize existing peace. As war breaks out, some individuals who are particularly foreign covert invaders will get enriched.

Now is the right time for African leaders to begin to institute untainted national conferences and dialogue in their respective countries. This engenders an atmosphere of re-negotiation of their sovereignty through referenda that will get everything wholesomely restructured for the benefit of all.  The most agonizing of it all, is that majority of the African leaders have shamelessly mortgaged their consciences, thereby dancing like puppets that are controlled by their marionette. If really the leadership of the global community love Africa/Africans and want peace and tranquility to reign in the continent, they should allow Africans the freedom to decide their fate through unambiguous referendum exercises, particularly those who have totally lost  confidence in the evolving developments in their respective countries. Come to think of it, why do European nations, the United States of America and the United Kingdom consistently provide aids to African countries when such aids recipients have the wherewithal to permanently and abundantly cater for themselves? What are the benefits of these aids donors when realistically, they also have citizens in their home countries  grappling with poverty and it's effects? Some of the tribes in Africa it should be noted, are more populated than most of these European countries. Therefore, why can they not be allowed the pleasure and freedom of forming and administering their own countries?

This is not suggesting that problems in Africa are fundamentally caused by the developed global community but rather, they form the integral part of the chaotic situations bedevilling the African continent. It should be noticed that the world powers do not show interest concerning warring or conflict-ladden countries that are poorly endowed, naturally. Most of the rebels armed by these world powers have absolutely nothing positive to proffer besides destruction and death. Indept analysis into these anomalies would unravel quite a number of made billionaires from these foreign political institutions and organisations. Under such circumstances, restructuring African countries for peace and development would remain elusive.

Occasioned by divergent tribal cum ethnic groups forced into unworkable unions by these colonial overlords, the only attainable remedy out of the woods, is for all affected countries to wilfully decide for themselves, whether to maintain the status quo or clinically opt out to regain and foster their sovereignty. This is the only pancea for the much desired peace and progress.

Taking a cue from "Brexit" experience which offers the British citizens the right and opportunity to decide via a referendum, their membership or otherwise of European Union and  also the Irish people in the United Kingdom, one cannot but align with the inalienable wisdom and rights of Africans to freely decide for themselves, where exactly lies their fate. The warring factions in the Middle East, Asia and Africa are similarly enmeshed in avoidable conflicts. They should be allowed the same unfettered approach to decide what best soothes them in the light of the foregoing. The people's will and desire must have to be respected and this is the duty of an unbiased civilized global community.

  1. The time has come for Africans to get enlightened and think like educated persons. The major problem with Africa has been lack of organization resulting from the fact that much of Africa has been ruled by either half-educated or poorly educated people who have no capacity to think or assimilate good ideas. Civilized thinking has been absent and incompetence has been the driver of the African bus running it into potholes and ramming the vehicle against every tree and pole. Nigeria, particularly, has never had a man of ideas, one with original philosophy or understanding and capable of creating a direction. The brightest of them only copy from what they read in school. There is nothing creative in them. Just this morning, I learnt from sunrise TV that Obasanjo said he had shed blood to "unit" Nigeria before and would do it till death. Now you can see how reasonable that sounds to him and the numerous numskulls he and his likes have created among the people. A quality mind will ask him: What has fighting got to do with uniting? Is fighting not intended to overcome, conquer, destroy, subjugate, and overpower? Is fighting not an intention to take over the freedom, will, desire or choice and direction of someone? But how many Nigerian youths from the North and West think in this manner? So you see, fighting to conquer, a barbaric behavior of the premevial times, is made holy by the likes of Obasanjo and endorsed by youths because they feel they cannot survive without oil wealth in the east. Yet I know many countries in the world that do not have oil but are better of than Nigeria. Secondly such people like Obasanjo make "unity of Nigeria" look like one holy thing as God almighty, as Jesus Christ, or the holiest of holies, so that anyone who wants to have freedom from Nigeria is a demon and only good for Shoel. No wonder why a Yoruba boy in one of the "universities" along Lagos-Ibadan expressway asked that the Ibo race should be wiped out for asking for Biafra. They make their brainless youths not see that Nigeria is a forced collection of nations/peoples. Such is the creation of people like Obasanjo. But talking about unity; are we not united with Ghana, Benin Republic, Togo, and so on? Does unity mean to be in one country randomly mixed? Do these people understand the meaning of unity at all? Is unity the same as uniformity? Behold, what their European masters are trying to create is not unity but uniformity. That is what they mean by nation building. It is unfortunate that Africans, and badly so Nigerians, do not study things in detail and cannot understand the meanings of simple words and things. When the Europeans visit and say that they will help them (Africans) in nation building, these poorly educated people called African leaders do not understand what the Europeans mean by that. A nation is one people with one language, tradition, and culture. Hence the European is saying that he understands you are not a nation but is going to help build you into one. In other words, he is performing an experiment with you and your lives, to form one nation out of many. Hence an African born into any of the true nations, be it Biafra, Odua, or Arewa, might live all his years and die without living in his own nation whilst the European experiment lasts. The African's life is taken away from him by an experimenting European. Nevertheless, the Europeans do not find it necessary to carry out the same experiment in their own continent. All of Europe is made up of nation states - countries that contain one people with one language and tradition. The same Europeans split themselves up into little bits to create unity and peace. The population of Iceland is 360,000 people, Malta, and Gibraltar are no better.

  2. They do not need such experiments there because they are superior beings. But it is in Africa that you have enough guinea pigs and all manner of wild beasts for experiment; "uniting by fighting", "shedding blood to unite their country". The very UK that insists on having Nigeria bundled and bonded into one country had enough commonsense to create a sort of confederation whereby they have Scotland, Wales, Ireland, England, but lost it in creating a kingdom of beasts in Nigeria eventhough it can see that the differences between an Irish and an English is nothing compared to that between an Ibo and a Yoruba - much more between an Igbo and an Hausa-Fulani. But who will blame the British when, even several years after the creation and all mistakes made, we still have people who claim to be educated but hang onto the British creation with their whole lives so as to kill and shed blood for it. Who can blame the British when these same people are passing such stupidity to their coming generations to the extent that a university student will ask that a race be wiped out for asking for referendum to decide their future - especially when it is clear that the generation that started the country and union have all passed on. If the British say we are black monkeys, ain't they right? I have always said that the time is here for Africans to give everyone their freedoms and then negotiate for better arrangement for coexistence. We should be proud enough to do that if we say that we are educated. Continuing this way we are going will mean continuing to stand before the white man with our caps in between our armpits, scratching our ears and arms, and begging them to assist us by adjusting balance of trade and all that
