IPOB: NIGERIAN MEDIA FAKE NEWS REPORTS: BANE OF UNDER-DEVELOPMENT IN THE COUNTRY

The fictitious news reports carried by the Nigerian Media about the just concluded and monumentally successful Biafra Heroes and Heroines Remembrance Day Sit-At-Home of Wednesday 30th May 2018, is not surprising after all. The greatest tragedy that has befallen Nigeria as a country amongst others, is principally the callous news reportage of her Media practitioners. This has precipitated gross under-development in virtually every segment. The Nigerian Media players have very shamelessly, in crass disregard to professional ethics, jettisoned accuracy and professionalism in journalism. They have enthroned brown-envelopism in a prestigious profession ever esteemed globally because of frivolous gains from the powers that be. It is unfortunate therefore, that the once revered profession in Nigeria has metamorphosed into a tool of oppression as being controlled by the Yoruba hungry and half baked journalists of today. Instead of standing on the side of the people to fight for the justice and protection of human rights, the Nigerian Media has surreptitiously, downgraded the very essence of it's calling. Orchestrated by this absurdity and rape of responsibility, Nigeria has remained one of the most, if not the worst under developed countries amongst the comity of African nations. She has continued irredeemably in a pitiable suffering condition, mediocrity and quagmire in all facets of existence for nearly 58 good years of now since after her independence.
To further buttress this tragic scenario of the Nigerian Media on the sensitivity of the numerous reading public, is the grave effect of the fake reports being churned out by Punch Newspapers, Vanguard Newspapers, Guardian Newspapers, Sun Newspapers, Sahara Reporters and others, on daily basis to hoodwink the gullible. The most recent is the reports that in some parts of Biafraland, there was absolutely no obedience by the people to the "Sit-At-Home" order handed out by the leadership of the Indigenous People of Biafra (IPOB) to it's members and of course to all Biafrans of good consciences. But the global community is obviously aware that from Otukpo in Benue state, Ogoniland in Rivers state, Ijawland in Bayelsa state, Ogoja hills in Cross River state down to Igbanke in Edo state, all the Biafran territories witnessed very significant total lockdown of activities from morning to early night hours of 30th of May 2018, in observance of the Heroes and Heroines Remembrance Day. It is a shame to report here that the advent of "write and collect" brown envelope or "Ghana must go bags of money" journalism in Nigeria has grossly ridiculed the profession. The Nigerian Union of Journalists (NUJ), Nigerian Guild of Editors (NGE) and the Nigerian Press Council (NPC) amongst others, are insulting the sensitivity of the Nigerian reading public with the dissemination of their fake news reportage. It should be pointedly stated here that any people blatantly being denied accurate information are really prone to danger. Such a society is unsafe and insecure as the media which is supposedly vested with the responsibility of giving out the right information is completely compromised. That right to authentic information has been mortgaged through the manipulations of the authorities against the derivable benefits of the masses.
It is an insult to the consciousness of the people for the Nigerian Media outlets to be dishonestly dishing out falsehood in the name of news reports. The evil associated with the Newspapers' reports that some parts of Biafraland failed to observe the Biafran Heroes and Heroines Remembrance Day Sit-At-Home commemoration cannot just be imagined. Virtually, the enlightened populace accessing social media platforms like Facebook, Twitter, Instagram and Radio Biafra London et cetera, confirmed the enormity of the compliance, across Biafraland. The position of the Nigerian Media on the event of that day is rather pathetically insultive to the Nigerian reading public. The array of media wars orchestrated by the Nigerian government (Aso Rock cabals), through the instrumentality of the South East Governors like Dave Umahi of Ebonyi State, Willie Obiano of Anambra state and the Ministry of Information were roundly defeated. They failed to realize that social media platforms are inconcealable and from there, the truth is filtered. All their propped up malicious publications against IPOB "SIT-AT-HOME" order were rubbished. Infact the Nigerian Media is a disgrace and a disappointment to their beguiled followers. It has constituted itself as a great tragedy to humanity, by aiding and supporting the impunity of the oppressors against the defense and protection of the rights of the people.
The Indigenous People of Biafra (IPOB) worldwide however, as a global movement, is not surprise at the string of malicious publications being carried out by the established media industry against the just concluded Sit-At-Home program. The IPOB is never perturbed as the malicious publications are part of the continuous but unfruitful media onslaught in the kitty of the Nigerian government to try to truncate the Biafra restoration struggle. The leadership of the IPOB is fully aware that so far as hunger persists in Nigeria, professionalism in the Nigerian media industry will remain a mirage. The media outlets in Nigeria are not given to information accuracy and accountability but to what extent financial windfalls can be attracted to their coffers at the enrichment of their proprietors through dubious means.
Nigerians should realize that the killings of the innocent by the Fulani killer herdsmen (terrorists) have continued unabetted and the Nigerian Media has refused to carry out their constitutional duties expeditiously. The sponsors of these Fulani Islamic marauders have already bought over the press and that is why instead of the vampires being correctly given their right tags or descriptions as "Fulani Herdsmen", the Fulani tag is consciously being expunged leaving only "Headsmen" as if there exists other tribes in Nigeria that are associated with cattle rearings in the country apart from the Fulanis.
Conclusively, the Indigenous People of Biafra (IPOB) is hereby warning the reading public to be wary of the Nigerian media, as there looms more tragic developments from this crop of misguided individuals who parade themselves as Nigerian media professionals. They are there to service the interests of their oppressive masters in government and not the protection and defense of the people nor their benefits.
