IPOB: IF THE COURT DID NOT ORDER SENATOR ABARIBE'S ARREST, WHO THEN DID?

IPOB: IF THE COURT DID NOT ORDER SENATOR ABARIBE'S ARREST, WHO THEN DID?
Senator Enyinnaya Abaribe

Based on the information issued from Justice Binta Nyako's Federal High Court in Abuja, that the order to arrest and detain distinguished Senator Enyinnaya Abaribe by the officials of the Department of Security Services (DSS) did not emanate from her, the world is increasingly apprehensive of who then did. This confession of the Judge before the world in a court sitting of such a high profile status, is not just mind boggling but leaves more to be explained. The distinguished Senator is the first surety that stood for the bail of the leader of the Indigenous People of Biafra (IPOB) worldwide, Mazi Nnamdi Kanu, on April 2017, but few days to his appearance in court being Tuesday 26th June 2018, the Nigerian government's despotic "hunt dogs" (DSS) arrested him in gestapo-style and had him illegitimately kept in custody.

The question then is: "who really ordered the unlawful arrest of Senator Enyinnaya Abaribe? Has the DSS become so powerful that it can unilaterally institute and execute arrest of individuals at will without recourse to the rule of law? Observers of court proceedings must note that the presiding judge of the Federal High Court in Abuja, Justice Binta Nyako pointedly stated before the global community that the abduction (arrest) and detention of Senator Enyinnaya Abaribe obviously and absolutely has nothing to do with Mazi Nnamdi Kanu's disappearance case which was the principal matter in the sitting of Tuesday 26th June, 2018.

If then the criminal arrest of the distinguished Senator by the DSS was not effected through valid court order or purely unconnected with pending court case regarding the abduction and incarceration of Mazi Nnamdi Kanu by the Nigerian army  since the 14th of September 2017, there exists then, an incontestable reason to believe that the revelation of Biafra Intelligence Unit released few days ago concerning some clandestine plots to assassinate Senator Enyinnaya Abaribe was true. Just a couple of days back, the Biafra Intelligence Unit through a concise and well articulated article put together by a Family Writers Press journalist, Mazi Onyebuchi Eze, and widely published, revealed that the real intrigue behind the Senator's arrest, hinged on a plot to have him secretly assassinated.

That move by the DSS was punctured eventually through the discovery of their motives by some good spirited individuals who trailed the covert agenda. Could the confession of the court that the arrest was unconnected with the case of Nnamdi Kanu, be a vindication of the IPOB leadership's outbursts against the Senator's arrest? In the heat of that callousness, the Indigenous People of Biafra (IPOB) worldwide, through a Press release by it's Media and Publicity Secretary, Comrade Emma Powerful, accused the Nigerian government under President Muhammadu Buhari of persecuting the outspoken Senator who recently revealed a padded and signed budget of 2018 in which a colossal sum of Thirty Billion Naira (N30 billion) was criminally smuggled in.

Moreover, if it is true that the Nigerian government is on the trail of Senator Enyinnaya Abaribe to have him summarily eliminated through the instrumentality of the DSS killer squad, for the offence of conscientiously carrying out his statutory legislative functions in a supposed democracy, where then lies the respect of the people of Abia-South Senatorial district whom the distinguished Senator ably represents in the Nigerian Senate? His arrest was wicked, despotic and callous in that no formal invitation through a valid court warrant was extended to him by the DSS.

It becomes expedient for the civilised global community therefore, to note that the Nigerian government is surreptitiously pushing the already aggrieved people of Biafra to the precipice through this evil agenda of the Senator's detention. Presently, the Muhammadu Buhari led federal government through the DSS, is yet to publish the exact reason behind the gestapo-styled abduction and detention of the distinguished Senator. Such wave of oppressive impunity will very soon if not tamed, snowball into an unprecedented catastrophe.

The world should therefore, courageously live up to her responsibility by compelling the Nigerian government to stop forthwith the persecution of Senator Enyinnaya Abaribe who has never been indicted to have committed any known crime against the state. It smacks of absurdity to quarantine an elected representative of the people in a dehumanizing security custody for exercising his legislative obligations. It should be noted that the arrest and detention of Senator Enyinnaya Abaribe means having same against the entire people of his constituency whom he represents in the Senate.

With the court's declaration of ignorance and non-complicity of his arrest, it is important for the world to therefore demand the reason(s) why the distinguished Senator should be held in detention without arraignment for 72 hours, even as a serving Senator. It is important to state here that when any individual or an institution for whatsoever reason, consciously contravenes the law, such a person or institution must very assuredly be attended to outside the dictates of the law.
