IPOB: THE PLIGHT OF BIAFRANS AND THE TIME TO SUPPORT BIAFRA REFERENDUM

THE PLIGHT OF BIAFRANS AND THE TIME TO SUPPORT BIAFRA REFERENDUM

At the United Nations on Tuesday, Ambassador Nikki Haley spoke about the protesters in Iran, saying, " We must not be silent, the people of Iran are crying for freedom". After reading from Fox News, this statement from the USA Ambassador to the United nations, I am forced to ask, why have USA remained silent as Biafrans die in their numbers in Nigeria. Does it mean that Biafrans does not deserve freedom? We should not forget that it took just demonstration from some Iranians and the USA is already out speaking for them. Then why is the United States Of America silent over the plight of Biafrans in Nigeria?

Biafrans fought a war in 1967. This war raised a very huge humanitarian crisis and questions. No rule of engagement was honoured, as Nigeria supported by Britain, Russia and Egypt kept on bombing everything that moved. They blockaded Biafra, using hunger as a legitimate weapon of war. Their fighter jets bombed schools, hospitals, civilian houses, farmlands and market places. My own grandmother (of the blessed memory) narrated to me how she escaped death in Orie Akokwa market in present day Imo state. According to her, the plane was too low, everybody ran, some into the bushes, and others running up and down, with no particular place to run to. The fighter jet dropped the killer bombs without the bomb exploding. She thought it was over. No sound heard. Nothing! It turned out to be an unexploded bomb that suddenly went off when things were calm. My grandmother and many other men, women and children in that market that day was saved. But not all was that lucky. The world practically kept quiet as children lost weight and suffered Kwashiorkor.

Since after this war of aggression and attrition, Biafrans have suffered all manner of inhumane and degrading  treatments in Nigeria, their human right has been violated repeatedly without rancor. They have been killed at every slightest provocation in Northern Nigeria. Imagine, a cartoon of Prophet Mohammed drawn in faraway Denmark led to the spilling of the blood of Biafrans in Northern Nigeria unabatedly with impunity. If the Nigerian government is not using their foot soldiers also known as Fulani herdsmen to kill innocent Biafran citizens, they will be using their killer squads in military comuoflage to annihilate, intimidate and stamped agitators into submission, yet the United Nations lost every courage to rescue humanity from this part of the world.

Economically, Biafrans have been decimated and strangulated. Nigerian government has made policies targeted on Biafrans alone, stifling them of every economic opportunities geared towards egalitarian economic development. They has impoverished Biafraland and made Biafrans slaves in their own lands.

Biafrans have been peacefully protesting, and Nigerian military has been killing them in their hundreds of which I have not seen any serious outcry or outrage from international personality like Nikki, US ambassador to the United Nations. They were killed in the streets of Biafraland. Soldiers went directly into a Catholic Church compound in Nkpor, Anambra state and killed them for gathering for the celebration of their heroes past. Biafrans were also killed by the Nigerian military inside a primary school in Aba while they were praying for the release of the Nnamdi Kanu, tge IPOB leader. Blood everywhere. In Umuahia, they shelled Nnamdi Kanu's residence killing not less than 28 youths. Also in Port- Harcourt Rivers State, Biafrans celebrating the victory of President Trump was killed in their numbers. It was really a festival of blood as mothers keep burying tgeir children. In all these killings, United State of America kept silent. But only one protest in Iran, USA found their voice. Could it be that Biafrans deserved death? Biafrans are crying for freedom for long time now. For 50 years, Biafrans have been demanding for their right to self determination. Give freedom to Biafra and have a liberated Africa. End the influx of Biafrans to Europe and America by supporting Biafra Referendum. Biafra, the hope of Africa.
