The Ebonyi State chapter of the Indigenous People of Biafra (IPOB) worldwide, under the supreme and able leadership of Mazi Nnamdi Kanu has very successfully carried out her state membership accreditation. This took place on Wednesday 10th of January, 2018 in Ebonyi South Senatorial District.
The exercise which commenced on Monday 8th January 2018 in Ebonyi North Senatorial district, was conducted within a space of three days in all the three Senatorial districts of the state. Members of the Indigenous People of Biafra (IPOB) who converged enmass in Abakiliki, the Ebonyi State capital, were comprehensively and accordingly accredited within the time lapse of 10:00am and 1:00pm. The exercise was really daunting as officials battled successfully to attend to the surging crowd of participants.
The second day of the exercise which was Tuesday 9th of January 2018, saw the accreditation team visiting Ebonyi Central Senatorial District. The exercise was however rescheduled for the first week of February 2018, following complaints of the people not being duly informed. The Senatorial district Coordinator - Mazi Chinedu Nwoba promised the accreditation team that concerted efforts will be made to massively reach out to the concerned before the rescheduled period.
The exercise eventually elapsed in Ebonyi South Senatorial district, the home jurisdiction of Ebonyi State IPOB Coordinator - Mazi Igwe Ogbonnaya and the incumbent State Governor, David Nwaeze Umahi. The exercise suffered near - disruption occasioned by low turnout of family members. This was however, promptly and adequately addressed, thereby paving way for an encouraging cooperation and turn out of the people. The Ebonyi State Coordinator whose unit is Ugwulangwu, was the first family member to be accredited. Following him was Rev. Okoh Elijah Okpara whose unit is Uburu, having met all the criteria spelt-out by the leadership of the Indigenous People of Biafra (IPOB) worldwide, for membership. Other eligible members accordingly, took their own turn also.
This accreditation exercise is an objective born out of wisdom of the Ebonyi State IPOB leadership, to ascertain and collate membership data of all those within her jurisdiction for purposes of credible documentation and accountability both for now and in the future. It will further help to curb the excesses of impostors and saboteurs in Ebonyi State in particular and Biafraland in general. This exercise will also help to identify all genuine members by the Unit, Zonal, Local Government and Senatorial Coordinators especially in the areas of payment of dues amongst others, as may be required.
Members of the accreditation team were drawn from among the principal officers of the State IPOB who were adequately trained prior to the exercise and was led by the Ebonyi State Coordinator - Mazi Igwe Ogbonnaya.
