John Okwoeze Odey, Ph.D in one of his books titled “Another Madness Called Election, 2007; Nigeria’s journey from colonial bondage to democratic tyranny” which was banned in Nigeria just because he said the truth about Nigerian election and because he is a Biafran, explained vividly the type of phony elections that goes on in Nigeria.
I think, Enugu state chairmanship election that took place on 4th, November, 2017 will not be an exception in exposing the rotten system of the Nigerian electoral commission. According to an on the spot account of Enugu state election as covered by Family Writers Press correspondents, at the polling station in Trans-Ekulu Girls' Secondary School, Enugu East Local Government Area of Enugu State, there was total election boycott, it was only ENSIEC officials and the Nigerian police that were seen in the cold morning, with no electorate to attend to. It was a big disgrace as Biafrans agreed in one voice not to come out and vote.
The reality of all Nigerian elections are such that, elections are not democratic in nature because ideas that are promoted by the Umbrella (PDP) and Brooms (APC) parties are not given to the public for consideration (they are hidden) in the real sense of the word but are put into use when finally elected into office whether it negatively affects the masses or not. Elections occur too infrequently while damages are being done on daily bases. Citizens involvement in elections is needed to replace the over dependence on the ballot box which then makes elections to have meaning because the number of eligible electorates in polling stations are always far below the actual number of votes recorded. When there is no corporate control of the results of especially electronic voting machines and the electorates (which are controlled by INEC), results are rigged in violation of peoples' rights which breeds corruption with no consequences attached.
In a democratic form of government, where power is vested in the hands of the people, voting is the most precious right of all. In a democratic dispensation, voting should be one of the ways, the people exercise the power vested on them, either directly by voting on issues, budgets, and policies, or indirectly by voting for representatives who are obligated to represent their constituents. In a democratic form of government, elected representatives can be directly recalled by the people at any time that they fail to represent the people who elected them, but in Nigeria it the opposite.
We will boycott all phony elections because to participate in the farce called Nigerian elections is to endorse another farce called politicians.
We Biafrans are tired of Nigeria. We will only vote when we get the date for Biafra referendum to decide our fate in the defunct Nigeria. We Biafrans do not agree to comply with your rules, we do not agree with your totalitarian and dictatorship but believes in absolute Biafra freedom. We do not agree with your murderous wars of plunder. We do not agree with your occupations and repressions of the Biafran people, nor do we agree with your treacherous campaign against Biafra agitation.
Our campaign of non-compliance with Nigerian elections started with the just concluded Enugu State chairmanship election boycott, followed by Anambra state gubernatorial election slated to take place on 18th of this month, but it does not end there because we will continue to whittle away at your illegitimate power until you have none at all and only if a date for referendum is scheduled for Biafrans to decide their fate, then we will rise like sprouts after a forest fire, in our billions, and we will replace your imperial plutocracy with global socialist democracy.
We will withhold our consent to be ruled by inept and corrupt politicians. Of course we realize the election might be massively rigged with or without our votes, at least for the time being, but we see no reason to run to polling stations to cast our votes in endorsement of those that will kill, intimidate and subjugate us in collaboration with our oppressors.
We will not vote in the "elections" of a regime with a war- based economy geared towards terminating Biafran businesses. Therefore, we will not participate in voting in any Nigerian elections, thereby legitimizing our suffering and slavery.
However, Nigerian elections are a dog and pony show, being held only to make the common people think they have some sort of a voice, while in reality, the voices of the common people are not listened to at all. Nigerian elections are held so that the ruling class will claim legitimacy of holding a mandate from the people, which indirectly means that all the evils they do are done with the consent of the people. But in reality, we have no real say in the issues that affects our everyday lives especially in Biafraland, and we are not allowed to vote on the real issues that affects our lives like free education or free healthcare. The only way to change this is to take away the legitimacy of the ruling class by withholding our votes.
Election boycott is our only chance to gain our voice and power back as a people. Enough of this madness called election in Biafraland. Anambra state election boycott will seal our referendum and bring Nigeria to its final decimation.

When IPOB said something Nigeria government and their forces think we are joking. It is better for Nigeria to give us freedom now than another body step down to declare us refreridum. That will be big embrassment to nigeria in history forever. Now they will know that the cry is not only baby from stomach all cry to see biafra. That Is not a joke. Is for real.
ReplyDeleteCould the writer please clarify his statement about replacing the illegitimate Nigerian 'plutocracy' with a 'global socialist democracy'. What does he mean by that? Does IPOB have a socialist ideology? Biafrans, in particular the Igbos, are fiercely free-market capitalists. The only thing that's worse than Nigeria is a socialist system. Be very careful.
