WEEK 2 - FIXING DATE FOR THE BIAFRA REFERENDUM

In this week's edition of Family Writers Focus on Biafra Referendum, we are going to discuss fixing of date for the referendum. It is important for Biafrans all over the world to know that fixing of date for the referendum is the most important aspect of the overall referendum process. That is why Biafrans both at home and in diaspora must do anything within their reach to make date for Biafra referendum a reality if we must have the referendum conducted. In proper discussion of fixing of date for Biafra referendum, there are frequently asked questions (FAQs) which we must attend to as we move on.
#FAQ 1 - WHOSE RESPONSIBILITY IS IT TO FIX DATE FOR THE REFERENDUM?
~ Option A: There are major stakeholders who are at the responsibility to come together and jointly fix date for the such referendum. These three stakeholders are (a) United Nations, (b) The occupational government in the territory concerned such as Nigeria government (c) The indigenous, customary or Self-determination government of the territory demanding for secession e.g. IPOB Directorate of State. These three listed stakeholders can come together, discuss and come up with a date for the referendum and it will be announced to the world. This is the expectation of IPOB leadership at the moment as it is eagerly waiting for Nigeria government.
~ Option B: In civilized nations of the world, occupational government like Nigeria can as well accept the agitation for a referendum and announce the date for the referendum without the coming together of two other stakeholders. Although, UN, AU, EU and ECOWAS will still monitor the referendum but it is not a must that they will sit with Nigeria government before it announce date for the referendum. But here Nigeria government continued refusing to announce the date for Biafra referendum instead tagging the call for referendum as a call for war.
~ Option C: United Nations in conjuction with African Union and ECOWAS can as well at a point override the sovereignty of Nigeria and jointly announce any date in which if Nigeria government fail to conduct a referendum, they will recognize Biafra territory as sovereign nation by raising Biafra flag at their respective HQs. At that point, UN, AU, ECOWAS and even EU must have exhausted every approach and consultations on Nigeria government as to respect their respective charters which Nigeria government was voluntarily signatory to all of them by fixing date for Biafra referendum and all efforts failed. At that point, Nigeria will be seen as having treated with contempt all these treaties, charters and conventions which it is voluntarily a signatory to. For those who may be thinking that Biafrans joking with their agitations, that is where IPOB is pushing the agitations to at the moment.
~ Option D: The indigenous or customary government or at best Self-determination government of Biafra territory can as well fix a date for Biafra referendum as it is already obvious that Nigeria government does not want fix the date for the referendum. By this option, the indigenous government will notify the world that since occupational Nigeria government has vehemently refused to heed the call for Biafra referendum, they are going to organize their own indigenous referendum. By this step, all other stakeholders including those relevant international organization and the Nigeria occupational government and general media will be notified and invited as observers during the referendum. Although this step could lead to violence if taken but it is up to IPOB and entire Biafrans to know if they are ready for this option. But should Biafrans in one voice fix the date and conduct the referendum through this option even if under the rain of Nigeria military bullets and bombs, should the result favour Biafra, the international community will begin to give us open recognition as a sovereign nation. 1967 was only a general assembly not masses.
#FAQ 2 - WHY ANALYZING REFERENDUM WHEN DATE IS YET TO BE FIXED?
For those my friends even in Biafra media telling me to stop the focus on Biafra referendum as nobody knows yet when the referendum will be conducted, I want them to know that the option D may be undergoing consideration at the moment from IPOB leadership. It is not too early to start sensitization for Biafra referendum today because should Nigeria government wake up tomorrow and take us by surprise and announce a date as the referendum date with plan for us to fail like Scotland, will IPOB turn back and ask Nigeria government to give us more time to sensitize our people before the conduct of the referendum? It is important to make my critics to know that inasmuch as I do not throw away some points which they raised in their arguments but it is important to begin this sensitization now to avoid had I known.

Yes. We should start right now in sensitising all Biafrans both at home and in Diaspora. We should commence the mode of enabling Biafrans both at home and in Diaspora to register themselves and have a means of identifying who a true Biafran. That will serve as a basis of a true and accurate census figure for Biafrans.
