FULANI HERDSMEN AT IT AGAIN AS THEY ATTACK NEKE COMMUNITY IN ISI UZO L.G.A ENUGU STATE

FULANI HERDSMEN AT IT AGAIN AS THEY ATTACK NEKE COMMUNITY IN ISI UZO L.G.A ENUGU STATE

Arrogance, Subjugation and Intimidation are all the Attributes of Fulani-herdsman as they now forcefully occupy people’s land destroying their farmland and also threatening to kill any villagers that crosses their way in a move to chase them out of their land knowing fully well that their sponsors in the corridors of power will surely protect them.

In another bloody act of "Either your land or your blood" the Fulani-herdsmen attacked Nike community in Isi Uzo L.G.A Enugu State only because the villagers asked them to leave their land. Chibuzo Agbo an indigene of the community while narrating the incident to Nwachukwu Victor Samuel of Family Writers press said:

"My community Neke, never allow Fulani-herdsmen in our land because we are farmers and they will destroy our farmland if we allow them. Reaching last two years they started coming to our land which the youths met them to leave the land but they refused to leave, atlas we chased them away. Last year, the same thing happened again, this time another they vowed to do us what they did to uzo-uwani community in nsuka, but the youths of the community also revolved and chase them away now this year they have came to execute their plan."

He continued: "They came to our land on sunday 23rd of April 2017 and people were sent to tell them to leave the land which they agreed to leave on monday 24th April. But on getting to Monday, we started seeing Fulani people been drop by different motorcycles. That monday is our nkwo market day which is the major market in our community so when people were going home around 4-6pm that very day, they met fulani people with their cows blocking the road, while shouting that nobody should come their way because they would kill anybody that came towards them. We the youths now mobilized ourselves to meet them and when we reach where they were camping, they started shooting sporadically at us, we ran back and now came together to plan how to confront them strategically which on tuesday we did and it was face to face shooting. We captured four of them and others ran away. Those captured were handed over to the military who took them to the police station. These Fulani people were armed with Ak47 while our people were only equipped with local arms and after our confrontation with them, none of our people were killed".

When questioned if they contacted the police after the Fulani-herdsmen gave their threat he said: "We informed the Nigeria police of Isi Uzo L.G.A but they didn't comply and our king informed the military but they didn't come on time, they came when everything had happened, they went looking but by then all the Fulani-herdsmen had ran away. The nigeria Army now came back and we handed them over the four herdsmen we captured which they took to the police station but the information reaching us now, is it that all of them have been released following an order from commissioner of police Enugu State. When contacted the youth president of the community Mr. Ejiofor Okoro popularly known as NAKED WIRE said 'we will continuously resist any attempt by Fulani-herdsmen to dominate our homeland and destroy our farms which is our source of income'.

He concluded by saying: "I could vividly recall when we were kid, we use to know Fulani-herdsman as people that carries stick chasing their cows around but now they carry AK47 chasing community around, killing and kidnapping people because they now have a sponsor that supplies the AK47 for them to use and kill those they see as infidels. Someone would wonder why this rampaging Fulani-herdsmen didn't issue such threats during other regimes, Fulani-herdsmen use to be subordinate to any community reside in but now the reverse is the case. Only Biafra can set us free from this demonic people who don't value human lives".
