What is The Next Step Forward For Nigeria: PDP, APC, Igbo-Presidency Or Biafra?

What's The Next Step Forward For Nigeria: PDP, APC, Igbo-Presidency Or Biafra?

By Somto Okonkwo

For Family Writers

Biafra and the division of Nigeria, that is what is trending now. In fact, the call for the dissolution and disintegration of Nigeria is now the norm of argument and deliberation amongst Nigerians and Biafrans. While 2019 elections also makes its own case, between the Peoples Democratic Party(PDP) and All Progressives Congress(APC), is Biafra the quickest solution to the amalgamation of Nigeria?

That seems to be the case, besides how many predicted the quick coming of Biafra and the apparent origination of Nnamdi Kanu, the leader of the Indigenous People of Biafra and director of Radio Biafra? I guess no one saw that coming. But now that Nigeria has found herself in a critical position and at the edge of the cliff, so what's next? Revolt back to PDP, Continue with the Tyrannical government of APC under Muhammadu Buhari, pretend to care about the Igbo-Biafrans by falsely promising them the presidency in 2023, or by finally choosing the road to end the British amalgamation through self-determination and freedom, i.e Biafra.

Let's Do A Short Analysis.....

PDP AND APC

PDP was in control of power for over 16years, the party won every Presidential election between 1999 and 2011, and was until the 2015 elections. But what changed? what progress was made? In fact over $300billion was stolen when PDP was in charge of the presidency. Electricity was bad. Poverty was high. Boko-Haram emerged (Created by some rival Nigerian politicans to disable PDP and drive them out of power). Unemployment was a disaster. Even the infrastructures and social amenities set by PDP was lame. Even though what was about to emerge next was considered a more destructive and horrible experience that most Nigerians begin to think the government during the past Administration of PDP was better. So what happened next? APC happened.

The All Progressives Congress, APC took power from PDP, promising Heaven on earth and a better administration. But when APC finally had their chance or power, what did they do with it? They went back to bring a former military Dictator with a very poor background of Human rights to completely take Nigeria from disaster to doom. Tinubu installed Muhammadu Buhari as the president of Nigeria and the rest is history now. After accessing the progress of Nigeria since independence, I have come to the conclusion that no political party can save Nigeria. Let's not forget this same APC was a conjunction and combination of two former parties, the Action Congress of Nigeria and Congress for Progressive Change, also some fragments of some ex-PDP members was attached to form this so-called formidable party(APC). So that tells you all you need to know. Anyways, Nigerians have now witnessed how everything has turned out. It's just the same stories and it would keep getting worse for Nigeria. For how long now, have you Nigerians been hearing that things were get better? Instead the dubious Nigeria-Politicians keep on getting rich and powerful, while you wallow in poverty. Be it APC, PDP or whatever party conjured in Nigeria, it won't work. The political structure in Nigeria is just too corrupt, fetish and tribalistic to succeed. Nigeria politicians are all the same, mostly power mongers without much interest in public service and the well-being of the people. True democrat's see the loss of elections as part of the process of national growth, but Nigerian politicians would rather die and sacrifice the lives of innocent citizens than lose elections.

Let's face it, since the Nigeria independence, what progress has Nigeria made? What can you pinpoint out and say "Yes this is working perfectly" what positive feedback can you give on the case of Nigeria? Instead it's Always 1(One) step forward and 10(ten) steps backwards. Look at Buhari for example, APC have been shielding themselves from public criticism by saying that they are repairing the damage done caused by PDP over the years through fighting corruption and trying to create a better "corrupt free structure" for Nigeria. And now APC is saying it would take more than 8years for them to repair this damage, meaning they are asking Nigerians to keep them in power for a long period of time (Another political scam).

Now let's say PDP wins the next 2019 election, what excuse do you think they will conjure up, when you Nigerians ask them to give you the reasons for another bad Economy and stagnation? PDP will probably tell you again that they are repairing the damage done by Buhari's adminstration and APC failed policies. Now you tell me, where is the procession and proficiency in that? Where is the advancement? Where is the development? Where is the momentum? Its just going back and forth, forth and back, but still in the same position or even worse, It's been the same old stories for years, the same old thieves, the same old policies, the same old corrupt leaders, the same old promises, Lies upon Lies, nothing is ever going to change in Nigeria and the worse thing is that you victimized Nigerians, keep on falling into their traps. Always suffering and smiling never have you stood up for Justice and tell these criminals, murderers and lairs who call themselves politicians, that "Enough is Enough", instead you fold your arms while they keep throwing dusts in your eyes.

BIAFRA AND IGBO PRESIDENCY

Now BIAFRA on the other hand is a very good development to liberation not just to end the marginalization of Biafrans in Nigeria but also to halt the continued genocidal war been carried out in Biafra land. Now am not going to be talking about the Biafra of 1987 under Odumegwu Ojukwu, but the New Biafra under Nnamdi Kanu. Nnamdi Kanu is to be credited with a lot of progress in the current agitation for Biafra. This is a man who have willingly sacrificed his comfort zone to really embrace the freedom of Biafra. Initially, alot of people didn't take this uprising and a call for Biafra seriously. When Nnamdi Kanu was always speaking on Radio Biafra, people thought he was wasting his time. Many thought he was just one of those people, like Uwazurike probably seeking a quick scheme to get rich and famous through the strategy of reigniting the movement of Biafra. After all, who can blame them for thinking in that manner, after what Biafrans went through in the hands of the British-Nigeria government in 1987 civil war and also what former Massob leader Ralph Uwazurike did to scam them of their hard earned money, no one blamed them for losing hope. Biafrans wasn't ready for another leadership or agitation, they were finally giving in into the marginalization and oppression by the Nigeria government, not until Nnamdi Kanu stood up and started waking up the lost spirit of Biafra. Nnamdi Kanu stood not just as a symbol of Biafra but he once again gave Biafrans hope for a better tomorrow. He spoke the truth in a manner that, whoever was listening to his voice, had to pause and listen. This time it was a genuine and honest man speaking, not the likes of, Ralph Uwazurike, Igbo leaders and Ohaneze group with their political aspirations. Right after the arrest of Nnamdi Kanu on the 14th of October 2015, the agitation for BIAFRA ultimately exploded. It went completely out of control. It was as if there was a fire burning inside of every Biafran waiting to come out. The spirit of Biafra took over every living Biafran around the world. It was unbelievable. Several Nigerian politicians blamed president Muhammadu Buhari for falling into the trap of Nnamdi Kanu by arresting him, thinking that would stop the agitation of Biafra but it doesn't matter what anyone thinks now, what matters is that Biafra is here.

The sudden emergency of Biafra has forced a lot of people who said Biafra was dead and buried to start saying Biafra is back for good. Most Nigeria politicians who vowed to never talk about Biafra started holding press conferences and secret meetings on the issue of Biafra. The Nigeria Media who was paid and intimidated into hosting a blackout on Biafra, started publishing stories on the movement of Biafra and printed on their front pages. Even the so-called Igbo leaders forum and Ohaneze Ndigbo group have bowed their heads in shame to now support Biafra. That's how far Biafra has come in Nigeria, with Nnamdi Kanu leading the front line battle.

Now on the issue of the proposed Igbo-Presidency, it's never going to happen. Since Nigeria Independence, how many Igbo-Biafrans has emerged as the president of Nigeria? How many? Apart from Nnamdi Azikiwe who was president from 1963–1966, Major General Johnson Aguiyi-Ironsi who took power as a military leader after a coup in 1966 and Good luck Jonathan who is an Ijaw-Biafran who was fortunate to be president as a result of sudden death of Umaru Yar'Adua, no other Biafran has been given the opportunity to be the President of Nigeria. Not yesterday, not today and definitely not tomorrow. Forget that nonsense that they keep propagating, that Igbo-Biafrans are not united or that Biafra as a whole isn't possible, these are all ways manipulated and carved by the British-Nigeria government to keep Biafrans from stirring up the tension for Biafra. They created a system where Biafrans would be slaves in Nigeria, a system where they can't really decide their own future. It's no wonder Biafrans had to leave their own lands to places like Lagos, Abuja, Kaduna, Kwara, Ibadan, Kano and abroad to find greener pastures. Not that they can't do this in their homeland but because the marginalization system of the Nigeria government made it very difficult to survive there. No good road's, No hospitals, No standard International airport's, No quality Education, No sea ports. Compare this lack of social amenities in every state in Biafra land to that of the Yoruba's and Hausa-Fulani's, then you will see more reasonable facts why Biafrans must be allowed Freedom in Nigeria. Giving the presidency to the Igbo-Biafrans won't solve the problem of Nigeria. It won't stop the agitation of Biafra and the marginalization of Biafrans in Nigeria because it’s just another formulation of deceit to drift the minds of people off the current movement for Biafra. Nigerian structure was built and created to be more favorable to the Northerners and the westerners, but it was also structured to limit the Freedom, power and progress of Biafrans but "Enough is enough". It's time we all face reality in Nigeria. Nigeria can never work as long as the amalgamation of Biafrans, Yoruba's and Hausa-Fulani's is allowed to continue. We can't not live together, its not just possible. It's no secret that the Northern region of Nigeria was made Lord over others by the British government, so you tell me, how will Nigeria ever work? When right from the beginning, a system has already been put in place to decide those who will serve as majority and others a minority.

In Frederick Lugard’s own words: "the north and south are like oil and water – they cannot mix”.

“Since 1914 the British Government has been trying to make Nigeria into one country, but the Nigerian people themselves are historically different in their backgrounds, in their religious beliefs and customs and do not show themselves any signs of willingness to unite … Nigerian unity is only a British invention” – Alhaji Sir Abubakar Tafawa Balewa.

"Nigeria is not a nation. It is a mere geographical expression. There are no ‘Nigerians’ in the same sense as there are ‘English,’ ‘Welsh,’ or ‘French,’ The word ‘Nigeria’ is a mere distinctive appellation to distinguish those who live within the boundaries of Nigeria and those who do not” - Chief Obafemi Awolowo.

“It is better for us and many admirers abroad that we should disintegrate in peace and not in pieces. Should the politicians fail to heed the warning, then I will venture the prediction that the experience of the Democratic Republic of Congo will be a child’s play if it ever comes to our turn to play such a tragic role” - Dr Nnamdi Azikiwe.

“The new nation called Nigeria should be an Estate from our great grandfather, Othman Dan Fodio. We must ruthlessly prevent a change of power. We must use the minorities in the North as willing tools, and the south as conquered territories and never allow them to have control of their future" - Amadu Bello

I just don't want to go into further details so I don't deflect from the issue of discussion. The way forward for Nigeria is separation, that's the hardest truth and we have to face it, in other to progress. Am not just voicing this out, because am a Biafran but am speaking from personal experience and also the obvious reality. How long do we have to keep pretending that we are "One Nigeria" while we keep forcing the unity of a country that shouldn't have occurred in the first place? Take it or leave it, Nigeria won't last too long. Apart from the current agitation for Biafra, Nigerians are already fed up with the same old stories. Now is no longer the time to keep dwelling in the lies of the British-Nigeria government, that we are one. It's time we all wake up from our slumber and move towards absoluteness. If the Yoruba's and the Hausa-Fulani's believe so much in themselves, culture and capabilities just like the Biafrans do, then why are they forcing the unity of Nigeria?

What are the Yoruba's and the Hausa-Fulani's so scared of? If truly they believe that they can survive without the inclusion of Biafrans in Nigeria, then now is the time to also demand for their own sovereignty.

SO LETS FACE IT, BIAFRA AND THE DIVISION OF NIGERIA IS THE ONLY WAY FORWARD FOR NIGERIA NOT PDP, APC OR IGBO PRESIDENCY.
