IPOB: BIAFRA SELF DETERMINATION AND THE HYPOCRISY OF THE WORLD

BIAFRA SELF DETERMINATION AND THE HYPOCRISY OF THE WORLD

Ever since the end of the 1967-1970 civil war orchestrated against Biafrans by the Nigerian government through the help of the British government super headed by Harold Wilson and his puppet Gowon; Biafrans have continually been marginalised, suppressed and discriminated against in the scheme of governance and development in Nigeria, even as the world looks the other way round.
The war which oversaw the massacre and starving to death of about 6million Biafrans generated a wide range of reactions across the world. The then President of America, Richard Nixon said he was “tormented" by the atrocities taking place in Biafra land. He wanted to help but was frustrated by some bureaucrats around him. Nixon's frustration was vivid in his utterance.

“...But genocide is what is taking place right now –and starvation in the grim reaper. This not the time to stand a ceremony, or to go through channels or to observe the diplomatic niceties. The destruction of an entire people is an immoral objective even in the most moral of war. It can never be justified, it can never be condoned” he said. (Cities in Dan Jacobs, The Brutality of Nations,:74) .

Many believes that by exterminating the indigenous people of Biafra , they will have full control of the natural and mineral resources in Biafra land. Many world powers supplied weapons to the contraption called Nigeria and also assisted them to subjugate and kill the indigenous clans. The Biafrans survived the war and rapidly strived to recuperate despite frustrations by the Nigerian government, one of which was the wickedness of giving only 20pounds to each Biafran, not minding how much they have in banks or their investments in the country prior to the war.

The indigenous people have been killed on daily basis in the hands of the Islamic fundamentalist in Nigeria, yet the world has chosen to keep mute over this outburst of evil. The leader of the Indigenous People of Biafra and Director of Radio Biafra – Mazi Nnamdi Kanu has been illegally detained for exercising his fundamental human right, as stipulated in the United Nations declaration on rights of indigenous people to self-determination of which Nigeria is a signatory to.

The Indigenous People of Biafra (IPOB) has been calling and protesting peacefully around the world for the unconditionally release of Mazi Nnamdi Kanu. Thousands of peaceful protesters have been slaughtered and arrested unjustly for agitating for the implementation of their right to self-determination. It is very pathetic and hypocritical that world has been reluctant in calling Nigeria to order, and has refused to come to the aid of Biafrans.
Several genocides committed in some parts of the world have been discussed, investigated and the perpetrators brought to justice, but the genocide committed against Biafran people from 1967 to 1970 has been swept under the carpet.

Shakespeare has these to say.
“To every man upon this earth death
Cometh soon or later;
And how can man die better
Than facing fearful odds
For the ashes of his fathers
And the temples of his gods."

The nascent African state of Biafra has taken up the challenge to lead the children of African out from the bondage of mental slavery, but have continually been subdued by those who exploits the continent and are desperate to uphold their imperialistic nature.

People like Yakubu Gowon and other African leader (looters) are continually used by the western world as willing tools to kill and mow down any dissent voice that rears up its head for freedom, supplying weapons under the guise of fighting terrorism.  They create terrorists groups to kill humanity, to take up powers to themselves, to keep looting and banking it aboard.

The cry of the indigenous people of Biafra will forever remain a moral burden to the world until Biafra is completely restored. The UN, EU, and AU has been mute seeing the injustice and atrocities going on in Biafra. They   have chosen to do nothing about it even when evidences abounds.
The Nigerian state is an illegal entity created in 1914 to last for 100 years by the British colonists, which expired in 2014, and therefore has been declared invalid.

The Freedom for Biafra is the freedom of Africa.

  1. Yes the world had been so hypocritical about our struggle probably because we're blacks in a black African country, the rate at which things fall apart when it concerns Biafra independence is quite mind bugling. I assured my state of discipleship toward this very struggle and under the watch of our over all commander in chief of Biafra arm forces (His Excellency Prince Dr. Nnamdi Kanu ) that we ain't gonna give up unless death comes our way," Biafra is bigger than the biggest and mightier than the mightiest! We must fight to finish and at the end Biafra must come. All hail Biafra
