It was a thing of joy to glimpse the gigantic turn-ups of Indigenous People of Biafra (IPOB), lovers of freedom and sympathizers from far and near, who came to witness the hearing of the bail application filed by the leader of IPOB, Citizen Nnamdi Kanu alongside co-defendants who are being accused of treasonable felon by the Nigerian government.
Below is an interview conducted by Family Writers alongside Igweocha media team with the coordinator of IPOB in Cotonou, Benin Republic at the federal High Court Abuja, on 17th November, 2016, who however requested that his name should not be made public for security purposes.
***What are your observations during today's court proceedings?
COORDINATOR: Well, it is so unfortunate the contraption called Nigeria is shying away from the truth. The leader of the indigenous people of Biafra (IPOB) and Director of Radio Biafra /Biafra Television, Mazi Nnamdi Kanu is a prisoner of conscience. Am so happy to see hardcore Biafrans present in the court during the course of the proceedings. Even in the presence of Nigeria military and security agencies, they remained brave. It also gladdened my heart to see our leader Mazi Nnamdi Kanu happy and smiling. That sends signal that he is in high spirit, Biafrans were filled with joy to see him. Many hardcore Biafrans were hailing him and shouting free our leader Mazi Nnamdi Kanu, Ohamadike one of Biafra Land.
***What do you have to say about the leader of IPOB?
COORDINATOR: It gives me joy to see my mentor, leader, and prophet filled with smiles. That reminds me in radio Biafra where he said we should remain fearless before our enemies and resolute. His presence gives me encouragement and excitements, to see him raise his hands up, that signifies we should continue fighting until freedom is declared. Mazi Nnamdi Kanu is a brave lion who is fearless before his enemies. He is a leader who practices what he preaches, a man of his words. He loves his people that is why you see massive turn-ups of hardcore Biafrans who came in solidarity to support him. This is the evidence that Biafra is real and here with us. The doubting Thomases will see the blessed nation of Biafra declared soon. It is a living witness to see hard cores who are ready to fight until the end. He is the man who has proven his innocence. He has told us that the reason he was born is to restore God's kingdom upon this very earth, which is Biafra.
***What delights you more on the massive turn-ups of indigenous people of Biafra (IPOB) today in court?
COORDINATOR: Am filled with joy to see these wonderful people of Biafra, both those inside court and those outside who were not allowed to enter inside the courtroom. I was not allowed in because the contraption called Nigeria is hell on earth.
The people of Biafra are brave, men and women who are fearless before their enemies, their resoluteness, formidability, relentlessness on the struggle for the restoration of Biafra gives me more joy and courage to fight on. Many of them were shouting free our leader, free the leader of indigenous people of Biafra (IPOB), a prisoner of conscience.
Nnamdi kanu has done nothing to deserve such humiliation. He only exercised his fundamental human right, which is enshrined under United Nation Charter for self-determination that the contraption is a signatory to.
Everybody is proud of him. Even the police officers were watching us on seeing the bravery of Biafrans. The court proceedings were great and they adjourned the case to 1st December, 2016. We are optimistic that the leader of the Indigenous People of Biafra, Mazi Nnamdi Kanu will be granted bail or released unconditionally come 1st December, 2016. We pray that Almighty God should give our leader more strength, wisdom ahead of what is to come.
***We are glad to see your presence in court today, having come all the way from Benin Republic. What are your challenges of your IPOB family in Cotonou?
COORDINATOR: Where we are staying in Cotonou, we are faced with numerous challenges. Many of the people fathered by Hausa and some Biafrans are negative minded. Saying the course of Biafra is not going to be a reality. Some of these slaves will open their mouth wide to say, because you do not have anything to do that is the reason you are behind the agitation for Biafra. It is so pathetic to see these gullible fellows. Some of them call us names and tell us we are wasting our time. Most important challenge we have is in the financial aspect. Many of our members are not financially inclined but we are trying our best to make sure things worked out.
***What is the message you want to pass across to IPOB family in Benin Republic and millions of Biafrans worldwide?
COORDINATOR: Biafrans are brave men, women, youth and children who are talented in different field of knowledge given by Chukwu Okike Abiama. People came from far and near, that entails that Biafra is a reality and are here with us. Biafra will not take long to be restored. We must remain resolute, fearless, formidable, relentless and fearless before our enemies. We must continue because at the end we win.
All hail Biafra, land of the rising sun.
