BIAFRA: OPEN LETTER TO THE INTERNATIONAL COMMUNITY

BIAFRA: OPEN LETTER TO THE INTERNATIONAL COMMUNITY

By Prince Ugochukwu Olisakwe

I am writing this letter with sorrow in my heart, my hands are trembling as I picked my writing tools to pen down this short but precise letter to the international community.

We raise our hands seeking for Justice and equity. We ask for unconditional release of our leader Mazi Nnamdi Kanu, Benjamin Onwuka and other Biafrans unlawfully detained by the Nigerian government.

We the indigenous people of Biafra express our feelings of sadness and outrage over the unlawful arrest and incarceration of our leader, Nnamdi Kanu.

For the past two years, and most visibly this year, the people of Biafra  has grappled and subjected to a high level of racial inequality, extermination, abuses of fundamental human rights and all manner of torture.

Several letters and calls have been addressed to relevant bodies of the world concerning Biafra issues, how we are been unlawfully treated which has resulted in the death of not less than 4000 Biafrans brutally massacred by the Nigeria government from 2015 to 2016.
The government that is supposed to protect us and uphold our rights is instead killing us even with the weapons purchased through our taxes and resources.
We need action now the international community in terms of concrete sanctioning of Nigerian government who has violated all international treaties it is signatory to in respect to the human rights of Biafrans, and has also refused to respect court order which has directed that Nnamdi Kanu be set free.
Nigerian government must be called to order to respect the UN charter which authoritatively granted the right of the indigenous people to freely agitate for their own sovereign state under the confines of law.

We are calling for justice and tranquility,  these inequities and mass murder of Biafrans can be addressed by bringing Nigeria government to book : providing special prosecutors for Nigeria army and police-involved in the shootings and murder of unarmed  Biafrans in Aba, Enugu, Anambra, Rivers and Delta states respectively.
We urgently call for the interventions of world leaders, and international community to address these issues.

One of the most pervasive issues of our time is addressing the issue of restoration of Biafra. We cannot afford to wait any longer, justice delayed is justice denied.
