ARREST AND INCARCERATION OF NNAMDI KANU: THE GREATEST BLUNDER OF NIGERIA

October 14, 2015 was the very day Nigeria decided to commit a gradual but steady suicide. It was a disastrous day that could have been averted had Nigerian leaders been wise enough and not intoxicated by absolute power. They were desperate to quench Biafra restoration but ironically they ended up playing the most necessary part in the Biafra restoration script.
Just like the fish in the sea, which rejoiced at the sight of its prey and goes to grab it without a second thought, only to fall into the hook-trap of the fisherman, the abduction of Nnamdi Kanu by Nigerian government have proven to be a monumental disaster to Nigeria and his incarceration will forever be the greatest mistake of Muhammadu Buhari and his cohorts.
Before Nnamdi Kanu came down to Nigeria, he announced his visit severally on Radio Biafra. According to him, he made it known that he is coming to Biafra land to assume "full command" of Biafra restoration. It was like a conundrum because many misinterpreted what his words really means until the events that followed 14th of October when he was abducted by Nigerian DSS.
The news of Nnamdi Kanu's abduction triggered a tsunami that has been sinking Nigeria ever since. I was in Igweocha(Port-Harcourt) as of 18th and 19th of October 2015 when the first protest that shook the entire country took place. Thousands if not millions of people trooped out on the streets, different songs of liberation reverberated from one end of the unending que of Marching Biafrans to the other, the entire city was grounded and everything was brought to a standstill
Many people came out from their offices while others closed their shops to join the protest. A friend of mine and a journalist covering the protest confessed to me and said: "I least expected this magnitude of protest for Nnamdi Kanu or anything related to Biafra in Port-Harcourt." I laughed and told him that this is just the beginning as many records are yet to be broken. Few days later, protests erupted in different cities across Biafra land, it spiralled to Abuja and Lagos and surprisingly exploded across over 80 countries of the world. It was nothing short of the beginning of the end for Nigeria.
The abduction and incarceration of Nnamdi Kanu won him more sympathisers and supporters than his voice did on Radio Biafra. It awakened the consciousness of many Biafrans who are already getting addicted to the sufferings and marginalisations that has been prevalent in Nigeria. My co-worker in the office who was an addent critic of Nnamdi Kanu prior to his arrest, on hearing that he has been arrested said to me-
"If Nnamdi Kanu can come all the way from London, only to subject himself to the Nigerian government, then he has given me enough reason to believe all the things he has been saying on Radio Biafra." It was a shocking confession from a man who nearly fought me during an argument concerning Nnamdi Kanu and his message for Biafra restoration.
Although Nnamdi Kanu is still in chains, he is commanding millions of Biafrans. Many are ready to die for him because he has sacrificed himself for the freedom of his people. Had it not been for the diplomatic efforts of the leadership of Indigenous People of Biafra(IPOB), millions of brave youths who have already volunteered to die for him and for Biafra could have done the unthinkable to ensure that their leader Nnamdi Kanu is released.
Nobody has ever shaken the foundation of Nigeria the way Nnamdi Kanu is currently doing from prison custody, since the civil war ended. Nigerian politicians are now regretting why they conspired to arrest him in the first place as they are even more confused on how to release him. Even the Nigerians who called him a terrorist and a fraudster are now the ones giving him awards and desperately begging Buhari to release the 'Voice of Truth' because his incarceration has brought unimaginable sufferings and curses upon the country.
From the prison yard, Nnamdi Kanu has succeeded in throwing the Biafra restoration into the international limelight, Nigeria has been reduced to nothing among different countries of the world as her foundation which is characterised with subjugation and oppression and genocide has been destroyed by a man whose only weapon is the truth.
Nnamdi Kanu has already stamped himself as one of the greatest freedom fighters that will ever live and the story of his legendaries shall remain immortal.

It's unconscionable that Nanmdi Kanu is still being held and detained since October 2015 by the federal government - despite previous courts ruling for his release. What type of democracy is Nigeria practicing? This is simply abuse of rule of law and of his fundamental human rights. Buhari and his people must pay for this.
