NNAMDI KANU'S INCARCERATION A CATALYST TO BIAFRA AGITATION- DAVID OTTO

David Otto Endeley, a Counter Terrorism and Organised Crime expert at TGS Intelligence and Security Consultants based in London has disclosed to Family Writers that the activities of Nnamdi on Radio Biafra and most recently, his incarceration by Nigerian government are the sole reasons why the call for restoration of Biafra independence have once again flooded the international limelight, 50years after the infamous Biafra war that claimed over 3million lives of Biafrans.
Speaking to Paul Ihechi Alagba of Family Writers, David Otto noted that even if Nnamdi Kanu is released, it won't quench the call for Biafra restoration because the youths on the streets are more desperately in need of Biafra than Nnamdi Kanu
"Nnamdi Kanu's actions on Radio Biafra and out of it has taken the pro-Biafrans group to the limelight once more after the bloody civil war"
"His release from incarceration will not stop the agitation because this cry for secession- in my opinion has more meaning to young people on the streets than Nnamdi Kanu alone. In fact, his incarceration has given the Biafra movement a better platform to air their grievances."
"The principle of action - reaction - action confirms that most revolutions and civil unrest are not triggered by revolutionaries themselves but by the stupidity and brutality of security services against civilians with perceived local grievances. We have had it in the North with Boko Haram in 2009 and this has equally exhibited in the South with pro Biafra groups- Historical lessons must be learnt early enough and applied in local context. " David Otto stated.
David Otto had over the week in an interview with IBTimes UK alleged fears over a possible alliance of Biafra activists with the Niger Delta activists popularly known as "AVENGERS", who have recently engaged in bombing of oil pipelines as a means of airing out their perceived grievances and marginalisation by the Nigerian government, as well as their demand for the unconditional release of Nnamdi Kanu as ordered by several courts in Nigeria. Speaking on questions fielded to him on this aspect regarding the effects of such speculation on Biafra agitation as well as on Nigerian government, David Otto noted that there is not yet any alliance formed between Nnamdi Kanu or the leadership of the Indigenous People of Biafra(IPOB) and any militant group considering the fact that militancy had been existing in the region prior to the emergence of Nnamdi Kanu and IPOB:
"Militancy in Nigeria has been going on before Nnamdi Kanu came onto the scene. The effect it may or may not have on the agitation for Biafra is two folded- the government and pro Biafra itself. On the side of the government of Nigeria and security services, any practical alliance between the Niger Delta Avengers the Biafra secessionist groups seeking for independence will overstretch the security service that is already suffering from multiple crisis in multiple regions within Nigeria."
"For the pro Biafrans- the Niger Delta Avengers could give them a real opportunity to form a real alliance with a group that is openly willing to use sophisticated arms. This in effect- as we have seen in the cases of IRA in Northern Ireland and Hezbollah, will give Biafra a military wing not afraid to show its face. But every move henceforth depends on what the key members of Biafra decides on the issue of collaboration." David Otto concluded.
Meanwhile, Biafrans are earnestly preparing for their annual "Heroes Remembrance Day" coming up on the 30th Of May, a day set aside to remember the fallen heroes of Biafra and the victims of the genocide that occurred between 1966 and 1970. This event is scheduled to take place across all Biafra territories in Nigeria as well as over 90 countries where IPOB is duly registered and operating. IPOB has already accused the government of Muhammadu Buhari of plans to unleash his trigger-happy security operatives on Biafran activists on the the very day this even will take place in Nigeria.
