NNAMDI KANU IS A TIME BOMB WAITING TO EXPLODE

NNAMDI KANU IS A TIME BOMB WAITING TO EXPLODE

By Ifeanyi Chijioke

For Family Writers

I walked into a group of young men in Asaba, the capital of Delta state, their discussion was about the abrupt judgment delivered by the appeal court. It took everyone by surprise and it was clear justice cannot be done in Nigeria. The judiciary in Nigeria has lost direction, the complexity of Nnamdi Kanu’s case is testament to the way judgment was delivered. ‘This is a complex case and I shall reserve my judgment,  the three man justice had claimed in the last hearing, and suddenly they delivered ruling without sufficient information or awareness. They are either afraid or they have been compelled to let go the case and allow Tsoho go on with the will of the Master.

Chucks Muoma the lead council to Nnamdi Kanu vividly argued ‘if flight risk is the main reason for incarcerating Nnamdi Kanu, what about the other two without British passport? Justice Tsoho of high court gave his ruling like Nnamdi Kanu is the only concern in the matter’. The argument is very sharp and fascinating. Appeal court is helpless, they decided to put Nigeria before justice, the case here is, Nnamdi Kanu has committed no crime and the courts are bias because injustice and insincerity is to be patriotic to Nigeria in this matter.

One of the young men in Asaba boldly said “Director is a bomb waiting to explode, we are waiting for them to finish and then we will start from where they stopped” one Mr Benjamin said. A fierce looking man in his 50ties, holding a copy of Vanguard newspaper. He is the main character in the discussion, telling the people how everything will go “They will never grant him bail, they won’t release Nnamdi Kanu, don’t bother your selves. They will release him by fire by force in due time” he said to attentive young men with dull faces, probably affected by the judgment delivered by appeal court.

I walked on to another young man of my age and asked “How did you see the ruling and the entire case” he was quiet at first and took a deep breath, looking with his face wrinkled and uneasy appearance. “my brother, this people will not release Nnamdi Kanu until we do something, NDA is destroying pipelines, we need to either start a protest and cripple this country to the extent she can’t work in decades to come”. He said with mourning undertone, looking helplessly to join a group with the kind of fierce discussion that will suit his state of mind.

I left Asaba in a commercial vehicle as the issue of Nnamdi Kanu was still the topic inside the bus, nobody is afraid any longer. Everybody is now a Biafran and anyone that opposes Biafra gets it hot from the people. I watched the people engage in a fierce argument, one was saying Biafra will be restored in 2017 while the other said it might take as long as Nnamdi Kanu is released and held that Buhari will never release Nnamdi Kanu. “if Nnamdi Kanu is not released, if Buhari dare imprison Nnamdi Kanu, Nigeria won’t be able to contain what will come after them. People are keeping quiet because the trial is ongoing, we are expecting and waiting for his release, once that expectation is off, the bomb will explode, and the zoo will fall” a beautiful tender lady said, smiling richly.

There was laughter in the bus when ‘zoo’ was mentioned; the comic relief was a good one for me that chips in questions or comments when I want a view from them.  “That man has done nothing; the people are fanatical about Nnamdi Kanu. Again, he has a crowd that can make things move, I witnessed the protest in Onitsha, I was shocked, it never happened in Africa” a man with Yoruba accent said, “Imagine if such crowd loses hope and decides to embrace violence, Niger Delta militants will be child’s play” another man added. In the bus, it was all about Nnamdi Kanu and what would happen if Nnamdi Kanu is not released.

My journey to Asaba was called a day when my bus stopped and I alighted and headed for Onitsha post office to get a copy of Vanguard newspaper. Onitsha post office was the centre of the matter, on every news-stand is Nnamdi Kanu’s matter. “Biafra will not go into any war, even if they imprison Nnamdi Kanu, let us not embrace violence, Nnamdi Kanu can be released as the Prime minister of Biafra. He has set the platform and everything needed for us to achieve Biafra, let us go on with that and restore Biafra than embrace violence” he said as he was largely opposed by the people, an opposing shout erupted like in a parliament. “The zoo will fall, if anything happen to Nnamdi Kanu, the zoo will fall. Nnamdi Kanu has already said it, his command is the last command” an opposition said and he was cheered and supported with a loud “Yes”.

I was happy that our people are ready to sacrifice everything for Biafra, Nigeria is still playing pranks with Nnamdi Kanu. The reality we cannot deny is the fact that Nigeria is on a keg of gun powder and Nnamdi Kanu is holding the matches, he would light the gun powder and this country will explode, everybody will be affected but in the end Biafra will come. Nnamdi Kanu’s decision to peacefully go about Biafra should not be seen as weakness and justice should prevail. Nobody has monopoly of violence and injustice because anarchy is a free thing and ammunition is purchasable.

Finally as a man that spent his days in the most civilized part of the world-London, he would definitely go about restoration of Biafra in a civil manner. Meanwhile, he shall never account for any action Nigerian government will force Biafrans into due to a perceived injustice, be it civil war or civil disobedience. We have sworn with our lives to restore Biafra at all cost, and hence it is ‘Biafra or Death’.
