NIGERIA HAS GONE FROM CHANGE TO CHAINS
By Okonkwo Isaac Somto

In December 2014, Buhari emerged as the presidential candidate of the All Progressives Congress (APC) for the March 2015 general elections. Buhari made some campaign promises that some Nigerians now consider as a mock-up paradoxical. Many believed that Buhari won the election based on falsified promises. After Buhari defeated the incumbent President Goodluck Jonathan, many Nigerians sang his praises, as the saviour of Nigerians. It’s been a year now since President Muhammadu Buhari took power in May 2015, but things have gone from fair to worse for everyone living in the country, from Change to Chain. From total violation of Human Rights Law to complete brutality by the terrorists known as the Hausa-Fulani Herdsmen, the Nigerian Army has killed over 4000 Biafrans and 2500 Shia Muslims in just a year into Buhari's administration. Even the savages called the Fulani Herdsmen are also responsible for the death of over 1500 Igbo-Biafrans.
Remember Buhari's campaign promises? Well let's go back and analyse some key campaign promises made by Buhari.
Here are the failed Campaign promises made by the former military dictator, Buhari after he won the presidential elections.
1. Public declaration of assets and liabilities- (Till this day Buhari has failed to declare all his assets.)
2. Ban on all government officials from seeking medical care abroad- (Buhari himself have been travelling abroad for medical treatments.)
3. Implementation of the National Gender Policy, including 35% of appointing positions for women- (How many women are in Buhari's Administration?)
4. Revival of Ajaokuta steel company? (Please what's now happening to Ajaokuta steel?)
5. Generation, transmission and distribution of at least 20,000 MW of electricity within four years and increasing to 50,000 MW with a view to achieving 24/7 uninterrupted power supply within 10 years. Also uninterrupted power supply for 10 months - (This is very hilarious because power is epileptic in Buhari administration and Nigeria is still far away from the dream of uninterrupted power supply as promised by this cruel administration).
6. Empowerment scheme to employ 740,000 graduates across the 36 states and the Federal Capital Territory - (Not even 5000 have been employed).
7. Establishment of a free-tuition and scholarship scheme for pupils who have shown exceptional aptitude in science subjects at O/Levels to study ICT-related courses. - Scholarship indeed. - (No free- tuition, not to talk of scholarship since Buhari became president)
8. Three million Jobs per year- (Instead of creating Jobs, General Buhari have sacked over 2million workers in less than 8 months now.)
9. Churches and Mosques would not pay taxes under national laws, but if they engage in businesses, the businesses would pay tax - (Churches in the North are now enforced to pay taxes).
10. Provision of allowances to the discharged but unemployed Youth Corps members for Twelve (12) months while in the skills and entrepreneurial development programme - (Buhari even denied making such promises when asked why the policy haven't been implemented).
11. Making the economy one of the fastest-growing emerging economies in the world with a real GDP growth averaging 10% annually - (Buhari has dragged Nigeria's economy down from No 1 to 14th position in ranking in just 8 months).
12. Creation of a Social Welfare Programme of at least five thousand naira (N 5000) that will cater for the 25 million poorest and most vulnerable citizens upon the demonstration of children’s enrolment in school and evidence of immunisation to help promote family stability - (Poverty rate in Nigeria has gone up to 85% out of 100%in less than 8 months)
13. One free meal (to include fruits) daily, for public primary school pupils - (This one is really provoking all the primary school pupils across the country because they keep going home hungry because Buhari have failed to deliver the promise made to them).
14. Building an airport in Ekiti State- (I leave this to the Ekiti people to answer).
15. Permanent peace in the Niger Delta and other conflict prone areas such as Plateau, Taraba, Bauchi, Borno and Abia. - (Over 1000 Biafrans have been killed in Aba massacre by the Nigeria Armed Forces. The tension in Niger Delta is very high now, resulting to different confrontation between the Nigerian Armed Forces and the Niger Delta Avengers. Buhari promised to defeat Boko-Haram in 6 months if elected but it’s been a year now since he came into power and Boko-Haram keep terrorizing Nigeria).
16. No plans to Islamise Nigeria - (Ha, this one. I remember telling a friend that this was one of Buhari's agenda when he came into power. Now Buhari's plan to Islamise Nigeria is already on going. Buhari already included Nigeria into the Saudi Arabia led coalition of Muslim countries).
17. Making Information Technology, Manufacturing, Agriculture and Entertainment key drivers of our economy - (This one is really laughable based on the situation of things going on with the Oil price in Nigeria. The Nigerian Economy depends only on Oil).
18. Putting in place a N300 billion regional growth fund, average of N50 billion in each geo-political region to be managed by the REDAs. - (Pure blunder)
19. Creating additional middle-class of at least two million new home owners in the first year in government and one million annually thereafter. - (What manner of lie is this).
20. Creating an additional middle class of at least four million new home owners by 2019 by enacting national mortgage single digit interest rates for purchase of owner occupier houses as well as reviewing the collateral qualification to make funding for home ownership easier, with 15 to 30-year mortgage terms. - (How many homes have been created in the past 1 year?).
21. Injecting extra N30 billion into the Agricultural sector to create more agro-allied jobs by way of loans at nominal interest rates for capital investment on medium and commercial scale cash crops. - (Into Agriculture? So why the delay?).
22. You farm, government buys, guaranteeing a minimum price for selected crops and facilitate storage of agricultural products as and when necessary- (Oh please shut up).
23. At least one functioning airport is available in each of the 36 states. - (Buhari really did a thing on Nigerians to have won the presidential election with such vigorous lies).
24. Ending gas flaring and ensuring sales of at least half of gas produce, within Nigeria. - (Gas? When fuel is a problem now to produce).
25. Establishing at least six new universities of science and technology with satellite campuses in various states. - (Six? What about starting with one? Because am yet to see any).
26. Prioritising the reduction of the infant mortality rate by 2019 to 3% and reducing maternal mortality by more than 70%. - (This man is a clown because he need only look in the mirror to see himself before he sees others)
27. Increasing national health expenditure per person per annum to about N50,000 from less than N10,000 currently. - (Of course it’s very interesting to always falsify the hopes of others).
28. Increasing the quality of all federal government owned hospitals to world class standard within five years - (World class my foot. Buhari keeps travelling abroad for medical check-up?).
30. Reforming and strengthening the justice system for efficient administration and dispensation of justice with the creation of special courts for accelerated hearing of corruption, drug trafficking, terrorism and similar cases of national importance. - (The Nigeria Judiciary have been a mockery since Buhari came into power. No freedom of speech and expression. Buhari now have 100% control over the judiciary, no law and order since he came into power. In fact, the illegal arrest of Nnamdi Kanu and the manner at which the Judges are handling his case says it all).
31. Reviving the Nigerian Football League and putting incentives in place to make it as competitive as other national leagues. - (Footballers in Nigeria can tell you how terrible they have been treated since Buhari became president).
32. Assisting Nollywood to fully develop into world class movie industry that can compete effectively with Hollywood and Bollywood in due course. - (Insult upon injury, that's what Buhari is giving the Movie industry).
33. Guaranteeing that women are adequately represented in government appointments and providing greater opportunities in education, job creation and economic empowerment. - (Women in Nigeria are now voicing out against lack of representation both in government appointments and job opportunity).
34. Stabilising the naira. - (The sky-rocketing exchange rate of the Naira now in Buhari's Administration is adjudged the worst in Nigeria’s history).
35. Free education at primary, secondary and tertiary institutions for Science, Technology, Engineering and Mathematics (STEM) and Education. - (Nothing has been free since Buhari came into power)
36. Improving operational and legal mechanisms so that disciplinary steps are taken against proven human rights violations by the Armed Forces - (But now under Buhari the Nigerian Armed Forces have killed over 3,500 Biafran peaceful protesters. Killed 2,500 Shia Muslims. Massacred over 700 unarmed Igbo-Biafrans in Aba. Killed 100 women and children in the Niger Delta region. Too many killings going on now that I can't even list them all).
37. Eradication of state of origin, replacing that with state of residence to ensure Nigerians are Nigerians first before anything else. - (Pure Baloney!)
38. Establishment of crime squad to combat terrorism, kidnapping, armed robbery, militants, ethno-religious and communal clashes nationwide- (So how come these terrorists called Fulani Herdsmen are not stopped? These terrorists called Fulani Herdsmen have slaughtered over 1,500 Igbo-Biafrans in less than 10 months and Buhari have refused to do anything about it).
39. Special incentives to facilitate the education of the girl child. -( So how come Muslim politicians in Nigeria are suddenly getting married to underage girls and yet Buhari keeps approving these marriages).
40. Construction of 3,000km of superhighway including service trunks. - (The high rate of accidents occurring on the highways now, is because of extremely bad roads. Yet Buhari haven't even issued any construction of the so-called superhighway).
This is just 1 year into Buhari's Administration and yet things are now so terrible. I can hear you saying he still has 3 years to go but trust me these signs are already terrifying and also shows hints of things to come next. I believe those who witnessed his administration in 1984 will tell you that things are about to get rough, really really rough.

Bhari is a foolish man no good thinking?
ReplyDeleteBuhari is not foolish - but street smart; it's the Nigerians who voted him into office that are foolish and stupid. Buhari used the gullible politicians from SE/SS, Yoruba traitors and jihadist north to win. You aren’t seen nothing yet. The worst is yet to come. SE/SS must unite to free themselves from Islamic north and Yoruba traitors.
ReplyDeleteThanks for the nice discussion. The church mortgage in USA rate can be seemed fair with a right lender. So getting a perfect lender is really important.
