Governor Ifeanyi Ugwuanyi of Enugu State prefers to arrest and detain Biafrans protesting for the release of the leader of Indigenous People of Biafra (IPOB), Mazi Nnamdi Kanu, rather than prioritizing the security of the lives and properties of innocent citizens. Nnamdi Kanu in his several broadcasts on Radio Biafra before his arrest and illegal incarceration has always spoken of the invasion of Fulani Herdsmen into Enugu, especially on the atrocities committed by them in Nsukka. The warning by the leader of IPOB was ignored by Governor Ifeanyi Ugwuanyi who is inebriated with political power which he showcases on peaceful protesters, but in his cowardice cannot speak out against the activities of Fulani Herdsmen, so as not to offend the Northern Oligarchy lead by President Muhammadu Buhari.
In Uzouwani local government of Enugu state, specifically in Nimbo community, about seven villages (Nimbo Ngwoko, Ugwuijoro, Ekwuru, Ebor, Enugu Nimbo, Umuome and Ugwuachara) were among the areas attacked. Over 200 innocent Biafrans were killed, ten residential houses and a church, Christ Holy Church International, (aka Odozi Obodo), were also said to have been burnt by the Fulani terrorist, just as vehicles and motorcycles were destroyed and domestic animals killed. Before these vicious attacks on innocent villagers, there have been mobilisations of over 500 Fulani Herdsmen in the area which caused fear and anxiety in the villages. The traditional ruler of the community had made "SOS" calls, calling for the evacuation of Fulani Herdsmen from their farmlands, he never got any response from the government or security agencies. It should not be forgotten that 76 people were arrested by soldiers at Umuneshi, Awgu in Enugu State, for protesting against the abduction of two women by Fulani herdsmen in their community.
Governor Ifeanyi Ugwuanyi of Enugu State recently visited the scene of the Nimbo massacre and was seen shedding crocodile tears. The governor was in company of Enugu State Commissioner of Police, Mr. Nwodibo Ekechukwu, the GOC 82 Division, Nigerian Army, Major General Ibrahim Attahiru, as well as the Enugu State Commandant, Nigeria Security and Civil Defence Corps, NSCDC. The community was filled with every security agencies due to the governor's visit. In the governor's hypocrisy, he declared two days prayer and fasting in the state, asking residents to commit the situation into God’s hand.
The governor should apologize for his failure to protect his people from the onslaught of Fulani Herdsmen. Why are all the heads of various security agencies visiting the villages now? I guess the villagers are not important enough to be protected. I am not against prayers and fasting but will that make the indigenes of other communities in Enugu state marked for attack by Fulani Herdmen safe from attacks? The indigenes of Adani, Igga, Echenwo and Abbi communities in Enugu state have fled their homes in fear of Fulani Herdsmen attack and the governor will be held responsible if those communities are attacked and occupied by Fulani Herdsmen.
