AU PRESENTED IN BAD LIGHT BY BUHARI’S DECEIT AND HYPOCRISY

AU PRESENTED IN BAD LIGHT BY BUHARI’S DECEIT AND HYPOCRISY

By Ifeanyi Chijioke
(For Family Writers)

He said “ we have all shed blood for Africa to be free, but the irony is that, today, we are now killing each other, rather than facing the developmental challenges confronting us, we are spending our scarce resources killing our children and inflicting unspeakable horrors and unimaginable hardship on our brothers and sisters.”
“That is truly a tragedy and it must stop, enough is enough! Within the framework of the African Union, we have to, as a matter of urgency, reach a consensus on how to silence guns. Not by 2020 but now. Why must we wait? We must say no to wars and conflicts on our continent”

It is now clear that Buhari comes out and give speech prepared by his aide, he does not know if the content reflects his policies and attitudes. The reality is, this is 2015, a computer age where information can get to people from any corner of the world, this can never be 1967 when African children were killed in Biafra by Nigerian government, and the government went to summits and international stages saying there is no war or killing in Biafra but riot.

If a murderer who massacred Biafrans in Onitsha, Aba and even killed a seven years old Biafran school child by gun can have the locus-stand to address AU and condemn killing, horror and resolution of matters than gunning of matters, the character of AU will surely be questioned. Admittedly, diplomacy and protocols might have played a role but Africa must learn how to be bold and condemn evil, hypocrisy and avoid abetting evil.

“make sure your votes count, protect your votes and kill who tries to make your votes not to count” Buhari urged his supporters in 2011, indeed, their votes did not count and over 1000 people were killed, addressing AU with this record while men of dignity and character listened is painful. When must Africa learn to protest hypocrisy and condemn deceit for a better Africa?

“Dogs and Baboons will be soaked in blood if 2015 election is rigged” Buhari said before 2015, as a man that have no regard for human life, who feels his ambition is greater than lives of African children, African most populous country was thrown into fear which subsequently for the purpose of saving the lives of African children, Goodluck Jonathan handed power over to Buhari on basis of his threat, not withstanding irregularities that affected the election. Such man can have his say everywhere in his country but flourishing on hypocrisy and deceit before AU is condemnable.

Before terrorism took prominence in Nigeria, it was this same Buhari who promised that for losing election, he would make Nigeria ungovernable which subsequently mobilized Boko haram against African children and Nigeria become ungovernable. However, his clinging of power has only controlled a section of Boko haram loyal to him while ones out of his grasp continued killing African children.

This same man in question boldly and openly said that an attack against Boko Haram that kills African children is attack against his people. He also said Shakau-the leader of Boko haram is his misguided brother. Where is the passion of this man for African children that are ravaged by Boko Haram and hardship?
While his hypocritical and deceitful speech is going on in AU meeting, he commanded soldiers to keep killing peaceful African children protesting for the release of his political prisoner. It is important for AU to know that a seven years old school girl was murdered by Buhari.  Massacre of African children in Onitsha was ordered by Buhari, massacre of African children again ordered by Buhari in Aba, Enugu, Portharcourt, Bayelsa, etc. There is a continued massacre of African children yet AU have failed to give a speech condemning this act on its continent and charging Buhari on human right as EU have done.

Shiite Muslims were massacred in Zaria without remorse; Nigerian soldiers run away from gun duel with Boko haram and trigger their riffles against unarmed African children. There is a preventable conflict going on in Nigeria, it looked like everything is okay because Biafrans endure the numerous murder of their innocent brothers and sisters in the hands of Buhari. This hypocrite that goes up and down preaching freedom and how he cherished freedom must be advised, he incarcerate, kill and persecute Biafrans demanding freedom while extol freedom before AU. It is high time AU stopped condoning deceit and hypocrisy, silence motivates evil and let protocol not override reason. Buhari to address AU deceitfully, lying in all his speech presents African Union in bad light. For a better Africa, Africans must learn to shun evil and embrace truth. The emergence of Biafra is a step forward for Africa because British creation and control of present Nigeria leaves Africa in era of colonization which may as well be termed modern or technical colonization.
