Freedom remains the greatest asset any reasonable person
will love to secure. It's no doubt, that human society is ever dynamic, as
such, man tends to drift towards a planned, progressive and promising end that is fortified, embedded and established on
harmonious coexistence of individual.
A society that is characterised by the above-described qualities must have been
seriously programmed to respect the rights of its components. Sadly, this
seemed not to be the case of British-Nigeria allies who have since the forceful
and false amalgamation of this bloodshed- jungle called Nigeria in 1914, turned
to be the predators of the industrious people of Biafra. It's indeed an
unarguable fact that the dynamic nature of human society today has also stimulated and necessitated the
urge for self- determinism, which is centered
on freedom of association and disassociation, freedom of speech, freedom of
existence and coexistence, amongst all. Hence,
a son can wake up any day and disown his parents if he feels unsafe,
ill-treated or senses any element that could result to perpetual human degradation, demoralisation and dehumanization
from them, vice- versa .
Before 1967, the
blood of the Igbos(Biafrans) was made to flow on the streets of Northern
Nigeria, serving as the water in their wash hand basins, water in their cooking
pots and that in their cups. This brutal act of
the Hausa-Fulani people propelled the then Governor of the Eastern region, Col.
Odumegwu Ojukwu to unavoidably declare independent state of Biafra as a means
of rescuing and saving the lives of his people who were then under the siege of
the inhuman and autocratic leadership of Abubakar Tafawa Balewa, as the
Nigerian Prime Minister.
This, therefore,
resulted to Nigeria Civil War declared
against the people of Biafra from 1967-1970 by the government of Nigeria, with
the sole aim of wiping the entire Igbo race from the surface of the earth. As though that would place British government on the
edge of realising the grievous mistake made by Lord Lugard on his experimental
amalgamation of the then Northern and Southern Protectorate of Nigeria without
due consultations of the two concerned entities or critical examination of
their origin, culture and religion, instead, British-Nigeria allies connived
and tagged the Biafrans as rebels.
They also went as far as inciting and
instigating the rest of other World Powers to see Biafran agitation for freedom
of existence and right to live in the same wrong perception, hence resulting to the prevention of importation of warfare and
food into Biafran territory during the war. At
the end of the war, the money allocated for the proper development of the
Eastern region in what seemed to have been the positive result of the war, that
is, for the proper execution of the 3Rs, which are reconciliation,
rehabilitation and reconstruction as agreed by the Federal Government of
Nigeria was still diverted by the same Federal Government of Nigeria under the
leadership of General Yakubu Gowon for the development of the Western Region,
subjecting the people of Biafra to untold hardship.
Since 1967 till
date, the Igbos have remained the endangered species, most marginalized and
brutalised group among other tribes in Nigeria. In Nigeria of yesterday and
today, Igbos remain the most formidable force that protects, sustains and
enhances the complete cycling and recycling tempo of human development. Igbos
also remain the best projector and preacher of unity.
In Nigeria, as
exemplified by the attitude of Dr. Nnamdi Azikiwe, who despite the gruesome
massacre of his brothers(Igbos) in the Northern Nigeria, went and told
AbubakarTafawa Balewa, the then Prime Minister of Nigeria that " We are
one Nigeria and should forget our differences." Instead of Abubakar Tafawa
Balewa to reciprocate such peace move with a positive
response, he replied Dr. Azikiwe that"You are a southerner and a Christian
while I'm a Northerner, a Muslim. We must
understand our differences." Similarly, Igbo musicians were the first to
start incorporating all the three major Nigeria languages in their songs. With
the hospitality and unswerving spirit of determination of the Igbos, they
remain the most understanding, loving, caring, adventurous, industrious and
focused in Nigeria. Pathetically, though,
despite all these appreciable characters of an Igbo man, he is the most hated
and alienated in Nigeria. What a sad and ugly scenario! The wrong done by the
Igbos to deserve this high degree of intimidation and maltreatment is a
question that must be answered by the
enemies of Igbo Biafrans.
However, the continuous subjection of the Igbos to
everlasting sufferings, killings and ridicules
by the Yoruba Hausa-Fulani conspirators, under the disguise of Nigeria leaders,
has often precipitated the frequent agitation of the Igbos for the independent
State of Biafra, which Nnamdi Kanu has played a key role in its actualization.
Recently, Nigerian Government under the leadership of General Mohammed Buhari
arrested and detained Nnamdi Kanu, an act that portrays dictatorship, less
respect for human rights, sheer wickedness and intimidation. Ever since, Nnamdi
Kanu has been in detention despite the order by Nigeria apex court for his
release. In a move by the people of Biafra to
demonstrate their displeasure on the illegal detention of their Hero Nnamdi
kanu by Nigerian government and at the same time, express their undiluted
Support for him as they maintained unmitigated resolution to uphold the
realisation of Biafra State through peaceful protest, Nigeria government has
opted to be shooting at sight these innocent Biafra Citizens everyday.
Isn't this animalistic and inhumane? More so, I have always wondered where the
eyes and ears of the United Nation are.
Similarly, since we
(Biafrans) have always been treated as strangers in the country where 95
percent of both natural and human resources needed for its development and
sustainability is dependent on us, we therefore unequivocally and categorically
say " we are good and old enough to live and shall by the UN charter on
freedom of existence, allowed to live and choose whom to coexist with.).
Enough is enough Nigeria Government! Enough is enough British Government!!
Enough is enough other enemies of Biafra. Long live Nnamdi Kanu!!!!!! Long live
Biafra!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Iseeè.... no matter wht they do... Biafra is non negotiable...
